How would I go about doing this...

Featured Replies

Well me and 6 or 7 friends are really looking forward to seeing Coldplay when they tour again and I was just wondering how we could all get seats together. We really want front row as long as its not much more than 100 dollars but how would we get the seats all together? Does one person have to buy them all at the same time? Thanks, Mike

Unless the band or the promoter place a tight limit on group seats, you should be ok, as long as you contact the ticket-vender IMMEDIATELY when the tickets are on sale. It's hard enough to get a pair when they sell out as fast as Coldplay, lol.

So I can't just go on ticket master and buy them at once? I don't want to have to put it on one card cus im the biggest fan and I would probably be the one doing it...

I was also wondering, when you buy a ticket to a Coldplay concert, if you what floor tickets, are there seats on the floor area, or is that only for the stands?

Sorry about butting into someone elses thread, but it seems a good place to ask questions...

^^ depends on the venue, and that tour's stage set up.

Ref buying 6-7 tiks in a row; usually the limit is 8, so you should be ok, as long as you buy them all at the same time. Front row seats will probably have to be scalped, and will probably cost $350-$650 for each ticket. Most "vendors" will have either 2 together or 4, probably not 6-7 for front 5 rows.

even if I stay up till midnight and click literally 30 seconds after they go on sale! thats what im willing to do 350 seems a lot, you can't buy them online?

Even if you have to split into 2 groups it shouldn't be too bad. I mean its not like you'll be able to talk to 6 other people during the concert.

And I think if you join the Fan Club you get pre-sale opportunities through the official site.

I don't get why I will/might have to scalp them if I go on right at midnight

Coldplay shows sometimes sell out in a matter of minutes, so let's hope you have a really quick mouse-finger,lol. It's almost like luck of the draw.

My brother doesn't mind the whole 'buy it one e-bay for twelve times the price', that's what he did when he went to see Coldplay in July '06 (Why oh why didn't I like them then, I so totally would have loved to go... :bigcry:)

What is the average cost of a front row seat, online? Sorry for these questions most would find stupid but im new at big concerts. Any other info I should know feel free! thanks in advance

Ok. this is my area. big concerts and buying off ticketmaster are my things :D

first of all, the greater the number of tickets you're looking to buy, the less likely the chances are of you getting them. yes, usually the limit is between 6 and 8 at one time off the ticketmaster site, but if you select the "6" option or whatever from the dropdown menu, even literally 30 freaking seconds into the sale, you are WAY lessening your chances of getting ANY seats returned. finding two seats together is usually impossible enough. the problem usually isnt that the seats dont exist together (even though concerts like coldplay sell out in a matter of minutes), its that soooo many people are searching the site for tickets at one time that their server is bogged down and it doesnt process exact requests nearly as well. but you cant cant cant wait! literally the second the clock turns the time the tickets go on sale, you have to click and search. my best advice is: BUY THE FIRST TICKETS THAT ARE RETURNED IN YOUR SEARCH. even if theyre somewhat crappy, even if theyre not what you were looking for. because if you DONT follow those through, theres no saying that ANY MORE will come back, and im of the mind that its a bazillion times better to be there in an undesireable location than not to be there at all.

i would also reccomend searching for maximum two tickets at a time for a number of reasons. for one, it increases your chances of getting seats. two, like someone said before, it really doesnt matter who youre next to at a concert because once it gets going youre not going to talk to them anyway. and three, i dont know about your friends, but ive tried to do similar things many atime when a biggish group of my friends and i were going to a concert and then once we got the tickets, like the week before they all flaked and i was left with extra tickets that I had to pay for. which sucks. im not sure how old you are but if youre around my age (im 18) and your friends are teenagers, i would say theres a damn good chance that at least ONE of them will not be able to go or will drop out of the plans for some reason.

of course, all these things are concerning buying off ticketmaster. ebay and stubhub and the like are a WHOLE different kettle of fish, but im pretty experienced with those methods too. seriously, PM me whenever (especially when its getting down to buying time, whenever that may be  ) and ill tell you what i know. ive gotten tickets to EVERY concert ive ever wanted to go to by some means, and thats a hell of a lot of concerts. and only ONCE did i have to resort to ebay/stubhub to find any tickets at all.

so there is a little of my infinite wisdom concerning online ticket-buying :P :laugh1:

of all the concerts ive planned to go in a group, its never worked out and its been me and one other friend and sometimes my mom if shes into the band as well. i think its better that way, anyway. in a group you tend to be less excited (at least i am) because im worried theyll think im a loser if i go all out and act as excited as i feel, and then i tend to start believing what everyone else says about the concert, even if they say it was crappy and i think it was brilliant. and putting $600 of tickets on your card is not exactly fun, even if they do all show up by some miracle :P.

oh, and i figure if you want primo seats, youre going to pay somewhere between $150 and $400, probably on a site like stubhub or ebay. im trying to do that as well this time around, but im planning to get the best seats i can on ticketmaster FIRST and then search ebay and stubhub for deals on amazingly good seats in the next few days after that. you can always sell the worse seats: someone's usually happy to take them.

Wow. THat's helpful to anyone! Thanks, awhisper21...and by the way, you've probably also experienced the fact that even if you're stuck next to a stranger, even if you don't shut up all the way through, you end up friends, or at least singing along together. I've made some of my best friends that way, literally.:D

All this talk of buying tix for a new tour is getting me really excited for it!!:D:D (It's probably a looooong way off yet, though.)

ditto about the excitement. all my talk here about the next tour and the next album seem to be tricking me into thinking that the album is going to be here very fast! alas, im beginning to believe its going to take longer than i originally thought.

as for concert-friend making: that's my mom's specialty :P. i seem to always be next to someone thats just a passing fan, not a fanatic of whatever band we're seeing. but my mom...she's got so many friends from pearl jam concerts!

I've been stuck next to a couple of drunken assholes, but I've also met 2 of my life-long friends at shows...one of them at a Coldplay show.:)

Aw...I fear a few people on here may simply explode from impatience.

tell me about it, the next time i see that Chrysler mini van commercial with the clocks rhythm im going to throw my tv out the window!!!

As I suggested previously, every Coldplaying member who is able to purchase tickets should purchase as many as they can up to the limit for their chosen venue.

Then any extra tickets could be easily sold at face value to other Coldplaying members who have missed out.

Regulars on here should be given first option on these tickets. We all know who we are (post count doesn't lie).

A special thread should be started where those with extra tickets and those without can link up and then exchange details via PM.

Even if there isn't enough demand on here (which I would find hard to believe),

I'm sure nobody would have trouble offloading tickets at face value anyway.

That way nobody would be profiting from the band and members might even be able to meet up at the gigs and make new friends.

We should start to organise this now well before any tours are announced.

Hope this suggestion proves popular.;)

Thats a really great Idea... im still contemplating what I should do. I have three friends that really want to go and get good seats but if I have to put 3 on ticket master and it comes up with middle or something I wont have time to go back and select 1 or 2 to get closer. Im really knew to this since I always buy gen admission tickets and the one coldplay concert I went to someone else have purchased them. I know its really soon to be worried about this stuff, I just want to get an Idea of what I should do and ive gotten a lot of help in this thread already in the means of "consequences" Sorry to be a pain.
