Coldplay gig review

Featured Replies

Yesterday there was a small festival in Holland, where Nadasurf, Supergrass, Live and Coldplay where playing. All the four bands played very good, especially Coldplay and Live. But their was a big difference between these two bands. On stage Live is not only Ed Kowalczyk (the lead singer of Live), but they where a band, every member of the band did something else that changes the mood of the audience. But with coldplay it is just Chris Martin that is energetic. Jon, Will and Guy are relatively static which does little to energize the audience. I think this is a bit disappointing, because Coldplay is a band and not only Chris Martin.

Am I the only person that has this opinion???

Further I have noticed that Chris can speak a little bit of Dutch, this was really funny to hear. :) :)

There are alot of bands like Coldplay where the lead singer exhibits the most energy. I actually think that they are NOT static. Will has a huge stage presence behind those drums and is VERY energetic. Jon is too. He is not all over the stage, but he certainly is into the music...and Guy is Guy. I have seen them 6 times in concert and I think they make up a perfect band. I have never seen Live in concert, although I think they are great...I would like to see one of their performances.

When Chris spoke Dutch, did he speak it well? You said it was funny, so I am just curious. It is always smart to learn little snippets of the language from the country you are touring in...it helps them connect with the audience. On a couple of the live CP tracks I have, you hear Chris speaking in another language. Intersting stuff!!

Chris Martin said that he had a few Dutch friends aswell, so he speaks a few simple words. In the last gig I went to (october 2002) he even sang a old dutch song, that we sing to kids. It was a great laugh.

matt

That song is to cool! Chris also spoke some danish here last6 friday when they played here. i think he does that everywhere, learn a little of the language and says what he can. He has for instanse also spoken french.

but yes, i agree with you, jon and guy COULD move some more. You know guys, you arent glued to the stage! the spotlight IS gonna follow YOU!
