My cat Chester is getting old.

He's put on tons of weight, and now I think he's going senile. I can see it in his eyes that sometimes he doesn't really know what's going on around him, and he seems to be afraid when I try to pet him sometimes.

His physical health is also deteriorating. He always seems weak and tired. This morning, he fell between a dresser and a wall and couldn't pull himself out because of his size and lack of strength.

I'm just afraid that he's going to leave and die somewhere and be old and alone or in pain or something. If he's going to die, I want to know and I want to be able to make him comfortable. But since he is a cat, he'll probably just wander off and not come back.

This all seems very stupid, he's just an old fat orange cat that we always pick on for being so obese (we are not serious, of course), but all of our animals are very important to us!

I'm sorry, I know what it's like to lose a pet and its a terrible feeling. I hope your cat recovers, or that you make him as comfortable as possible

I guess the fun years you get with them would have to be capped with tragedy.

(Wow, dramatic.)

Thank you for being nice about it, I feel kind of stupid talking about him like that.

I'm not sure. Some old lady asked us to take him in about four years ago, and he looked pretty old then.

Aww, my nan recently had a cat put down. She was 15 and had failing kidneys. Is so sad.

My cat went missing in November, haven't seen him since

I'm sorry to hear bout his health. :( I love cats, and I know it's heartbreaking when your fav pet dies or is sick or is getting old. :(

I can imagine how you feel...

My 15 year old cat suddenly suffered a kidney failure last Christmas and he neither eat or drink days after that. He only slept the whole day, didn't go out, often fell down from the heater and became very apathetic. It was a very hard time and all the medicine the vet gave us didn't help.

At the beginning of this month I noticed that he got blind and that was the reason why my parents and I decided to let the vet put him down. One of the most difficult decisions I've ever made!

Hope your cat doesn't suffer the same, because it's incurable according to my vet. :(

This sounds a little weird...

My cat was the runt of the runt and often rather sickly. She had to be put down last week due to kidney failure :( only three or four, too...

I got 2 dogs, one is huge and 6 years old, the other small and 10 years old. I just hope I get a couple more years out of them.
