April 5, 200818 yr Yeah I know, i mean at first it was OK for me because I thought we were going to hear some Coldplay soon. But I was wrong and its taking ages. Really annoying. They could b at their offices debating about how good/crap it is. Aaaarrrrgggh!! 1'Yeah, I really liked Life in technicolour' 2'Really, i hated that song' 1'What about the song 42' 2'Bit boring to me but I cant belive how they end the song though. So masterful' 1'Yeah Coldplay fans will love it' 2'They havent heared it have they, hahah shame on them theyve been waiting so long. 1'And we didnt even know they were making an album until yesterday and weve heared it!!' 2' Hahahhahah 1'Hahahaahahh Where's that list from? or what from?
April 5, 200818 yr It's so exciting to finally hear one of them talking about the new album. Hopefully we'll somehow get to hear the whole recording of that interview at some point! completely agree to that
April 5, 200818 yr Author Here's what I could make out from the clip. I think some parts of it is wrong, though. Any help? Chris: ..The only thing that I'll say.. I don't wanna, in any sense, say what I think of our new music. All I'll say is that I don't feel any pressure to do something that people might expect or, what, you know, feel completely free and for that I credit Brian and (inaudible) Markus and all the seven of us. Interviewer: Uh huh Chris: You know, I don't, you know, we just have to stop caring about your known for or about what.. So you, so even if it’s shit at least it’s brave. That’s what Interviewer: (Laughs) Chris: That’s what it’s about (Something like that..) Interviewer: (Laughing) Well, sure, and (inaudible) I don’t think it’s shit. Chris: (At the same time) I don’t think it’s shit. Anyway whether it’s classic or just okay, it’s definitely not playing safe enough to under( Inaudible) Interviewer: Yea. When you started thinking about, you know, which rules to break or which directions to go with that, were these things also about coming up with it lyrically? Also, I feel like your voice on some of these tracks.. Some of my favourites are those on the lower register Chris: Yea.. Interviewer: more sort of.. Chris: Actually my singing teacher said that it got her aroused so Interviewer: (Laughs) Chris: low. Interviewer: Actually feel (inaudible) yea? Jonny: (Laughing) Chris: So... So I said ‘Well, I’ll try it.’ She’s, you know, she’s a lovely woman. Interviewer: (Laughs) Chris: (inaudible) ‘I say, I do like it when you sing low’ I said (In a low voice) ‘Well, naturally’ Interviewer: (laughs) why have you resisted that in the past? Or is it.. Chris: Well, I think as we go further and further from just being influenced by Radiohead to being influenced by lots of more people is just playing (or plain) plagiarist. I mean, all that we’ve done, really, is just expand our plagiaristic palette. Well the first record we were very much plagiarising Jeff Buckley (and) Radiohead, then Second Record a few of the things by the Bunnymen. The Third record we plagiarised ourselves. And this one, I mean, this is one thing Brian, that Markus is just bringing the most bizarre... From ‘Tinariwen’ to Interviewer: I really like ‘Tinariwen’. I love it. Chris: Yea, it’s amazing. You know, to the obvious like ‘Velvet Underground’ to ‘Johnny Cash’ and then what’s we-‘Donna Summer’, you know just some of the most bizarre (inaudible) Interviewer: (Inaudible) Chris: Still a lot of.. So (inaudible) stuff is probably come from, probably a group called ‘The Golden Gate Singers’, this old barber shop group from the twenties. Interviewer: Really? Chris: Yea, so, I just think it’s nice to realise that there’s a lot more to steal from than we realise
April 5, 200818 yr Is it just my imagination or... are they playing cards? At the beginning (00:00:10) you can listen to how a deck is shuffled, can't you? Can't wait to listen to the whole recording either!
April 7, 200818 yr I bet they're still at it! Prospekt is still trying to recoup lost chips
April 7, 200818 yr Prospekt is probably playing poker as he waits for Chris to stop fannying around at celebrity weddings and get back to work :P
April 8, 200818 yr Author If you listen very closely toward the end of the interview, you'll be able to hear the drum loops for one of the songs.
