VLVODAAHF = Transatlanticism

Featured Replies

I couldn't over the long intro segment of Violet hill which caused me to remember the long intro's from Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism.....Coldplay could have very much gone in this direction with tracks that seem to go into one another....the beginning of Violet Hill could very well be the end of the Viva la Vida track.

has anyone else latched on to this theory?

I think that's quite plausible, definitely. I'd love to see DCFC as an influence, their free style is just so unchained. Have you heard I Will Possess Your Heart? F**king in love with that song right now.

Well, some article floating around says the album will end and finish in the same way, so who knows....its possible....

i have to say that the intro reminds me more of DCFC's opening to plans with "marching bands of manhattan" rather than transatlanticism with "the new year." "the new year" kind of builds up and gets more intense, whereas in VH it just kind of stays the same once it reaches its volume and then all of a sudden, chris jumps in with those (very loud) vocals.

i do looove albums that begin and start the same way, like a big circle. however, we've got to remember that VH is neither the opener nor the closer to the album...it's towards the end, but there's still two tracks and a hidden track that come after it. i tend to keep forgetting every 5 minutes that VH isn't the opener just beacause it's pretty reminiscent of "politik" and "square one," but yeah. in this sense, i dont think VH has any bearing on "life in technicolor" etc etc.

interesting idea, though!

personally i don't like that song....because of the very very very very very long intro that never builds into anything.....but as far as Violet Hill goes i thought that might have been the case. there are so many tracks connected to each other in this album....if their anything like everything's not lost/life is for living i already know i won't be disappointed.
