Stop being so analytical.

Yep, couldn't agree more - who cares if a song is cool or not, if it's a Radiohead clone or not, if it's over produced or not - if it gets you tapping your foot, if it moves you to tears (in a good way!) If you enjoy it - then ENJOY it!!!

EXACTLY!

You couldn't have said it better!! ;)

Lol @ this thread. We really do tear apart every last little thing instead of just taking it as a whole, don't we?

As a musician/producer myself, I love analyzing and working out how things are put together, but you can lose some of the magic if you overdo it.

Way off topic, but it's a metaphor. For years I wouldn't try Sushi because I was WAY too aware of what was in it, and I finally told myself to just take a bite and see if it tasted good...and it did. End of analysis.:)...Over-analysis can deprive people of the good things in life.

But I still want to know hoe Eno mixed everything, lol!

Yes Briggins you damn list making, song war thread starting bastard...this means you! :laugh3:

Post of the day for me!:laugh3: (But I do love the lists!)

EDIT: I just noticed a couple of changes to the forum: You know we're being over-analytical when every new SONG has its own sub-forum,lolol!

yep i agree but i analize it in my imagination its great cause i play Dungeons and dragons since i have 12 years old now i have 24 so i imagine all the album as a medieval story lol. i love VLV!!!!. EVEN A FRIEND OF MINE WHO IS A FAN OF ALL UNDERMUSIC LOVES THE ALBUM ESPECIALLY CEMETERIES OF LONDON WHO IS A GREAT SONG TO PLAY DND :).

They play DND where you live?! I used to play a few years ago, but quit playing after I got into college and such. I had no clue people played DND overseas from here (USA). Coo!

KILEY :surprised:

I used to play in high-school, and even though I never thought of it that way, the songs DO have some D&D-type references. Chris studied Ancient History in collage, so it's nice to see his studies work their way into his lyrics. Should someone start a D&D thread, or will we get beaten up after school? (A Coldplaying on-line game could be crazy-fun!!)

Chris Studied Ancient History in College?? So, it is true then? Yellow is actually about his visit to see King Tu Tut Kohmmen when the mummy was on display at the Louvre in Paris?:\

Ah, why yes indeed, it is! It's also where he got the inspiration for one of the nicest songs on the new album...'Louvres In Japan',lolol!!:p

i'm currently a music student myself. i understand what you mean.

maybe it depends on where you stand about music as an ART, i guess. it's fine to enjoy it as a whole but for someone who's curious and notices the details...well the "in-depth" analysis will happen.

personally i'm a downright NERD about music, but i try to keep an open mind about it all. enjoying something as a whole and noticing the little details is a mindful balance. you can certainly do both.
