June 9, 200818 yr CoL is boring. Period....... Oh an YES! is the most exciting song ever  ....if you're a fan of country SHIT.
June 9, 200818 yr Firstly, It sounds more Arabian than anything. Country doesn't sound like that. Get your facts straight.
June 9, 200818 yr what are you talking about? you don't even have a clue. it's more country than anything else.
June 9, 200818 yr No, it's not. Where do you live? England, Where do I live? Freakin Florida. I just lived in Alabama HOME OF THE COUNTRY HICKS ok. The home of 30 stations being only COUNTRY MUSIC. The home of cattle ranches and everyone saying, howdy. I can tell the difference between country and that and that is NOT country. and, I hate country music, so that wouldn't help if it sounded country! Does this remind you of Dolly Parton?
June 9, 200818 yr Oh sorry, you're right, because I DIDN'T study music for three years  I know what constitutes a country-folk-esqe track. and you don't even have a clue. you think because you're from "Alabama" you know country? LOL
June 9, 200818 yr Parachutes=everythings not lost AROBTTH=the scientist x&y=swallowed in the sea Viva=Strawberry Swing

LOL I'm not from Alabama, I just lived there for a year. I really could careless if you studied music for three years or you studied aliens, i couldn't give a damn because that's not what it's about. It's about music only. Not the classes that you've taken. Ok? So, basically, anyone can tell the difference between genres of songs and the actual song. And what i'm saying is that country doesn't sound anything like Yes! It sounds twangy and disgusting. And sense you've taken that class, you should know that arabic music sounds more like that. BUT Oh I'm talking balls now. All I can say is agree to disagree. That's about it.

June 9, 200818 yr I am from south carolina, and i can tell u that nothing coldplay has put out or probalby will ever put out will sound like country. It's an entirely diff. sound and studying doesnt really do any justice to any music, u have to hear it for urself constantly and believe me i hear it everyday at work and have heard it my entire life. As for my favs... Para: Don't Panic AROBTTH: Scientist/In My Place X & Y: Talk (and every other song on the album ) Viva: Lovers in Japan
June 9, 200818 yr Ah well, at least i'm doing something right :) so you're purposely trying to annoy me? that's very friendly of you.
June 9, 200818 yr so you're purposely trying to annoy me? that's very friendly of you. :) only when you annoy me. like when you go into a hissy fit when you think you're right about something when you're actually not. like your "What If?" hissy fit. anyways it's besides the point. make of the songs whichever way you want. It won't change that 'Yes' is folk and country inspired. the picking, the slide, the instruments. it's all country. IMO <--
June 9, 200818 yr Haha that Dolly picture is priceless. The argument is interesting though. I'll admit, the guitar guitar in the background of Yes does have a country twang to it because its probably being played with a slide. But clearly the goal wasn't country here, the middle-eastern string arrangement before the chorus is proof of that. Chris's vocal does have a low/burly vibe going, but he doesn't have the obnoxious country accent to go along with it in the slightest bit. So in a way, this song has country/folk routes, Jonny's electric playing is evident of that. Also note the constant tapping of what sounds like a metronome with a very interesting rhythm going on (it works with the middle-eastern strings and it works for country). Technically, Age Six is right. But I didn't notice until he mentioned it. If [instert annoying country singer here] were singing this song then they would be the icing on the cake. But obviously this is Coldplay and in my opinion this one of the most well-composed songs on the album, right along side 42. The acoustic is great and the vocal/lyrics are catchy. The violins take it a step further. And Jonny's guitar filler is brilliant. Who cares if it sounds like country or folk or acoustic rock or whatever, its Coldplay and its great music. :D

You thought I did but actually I found that entire catastrophe funny. Because I use caplocks doesn't necessarily mean i'm getting in a hissy fit. And I just wanted to see if I were correct on the lyrics so i posted a thread. But, that's just typical me. And IMO, I really don't think it does, but we've established that already. ;)
June 9, 200818 yr Technically, Age Six is right. Oh when isn't he right? I mean, he's just simply infallible.
June 9, 200818 yr Oh when isn't he right? I mean, he's just simply infallible. lol, well maybe if you weren't so stubborn you wouldn't go in another hissyfit. When I said I studied music for three years I wasn't trying to be up myself, I was saying that musically speaking - it's a very 'country' song.
June 9, 200818 yr Oh when isn't he right? I mean, he's just simply infallible. Haha, well at least your Dolly Parton comparison was funny :nice: If this were a biological analysis of Chris Martin's DNA then his 3 years of musical studies wouldn't really come in handy here ;)
