  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. Hi, Oracle... I'm super excited about Coldplay performing at the iTunes Festival, I submitted for a chance to win tickets and I've been refreshing my e-mail nonstop ever since, have the winners already been contacted? Or is there a chance that I might win?

Thank you very much, wise Oracle

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

The winners have been notified, Regina. Even though you weren't successful on this occasion, you are able to watch the performance live online.

Q. Dear Oracle: in his visit for Latin America, did they prove some typical food of this zone?

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

Yes. The very first night the band arrived in Argentina, a huge (mainly) meat feast was served in the hotel's private garden to welcome us all. There was course after course of steaks in ascending quality. By the time the most incredible, succulent prime cut was served, everyone was full! I washed mine down with Argentinian *Malbec.

*Drink responsibly.

Q. Hello Oracle!! So I was wondering if the crowd during the video of Clocks was edited in, they seem to be displaying no emotions and very little movement, plus I'm sure if someone threw water at me I'd start moving haha. Thank you (are).

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

No, the crowd was actually in attendance. They were students from the local college and I seem to recall recruiting them was quite last minute. The video's director - Dominic Leung - will have told the audience what to do so maybe a few people found it hard to keep still, I can certainly spot a couple!

Q. Oh Mighty Oracle,

I was wondering what happened to the band's partnership with Make Trade Fair. I know for AROBTTH and X&Y Chris had it on his hand and they passed out flyers about it. I never hear about their working with it anymore; did they stop or are they just not as public about it anymore?

Thanks for answering!

Rodrick

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

Coldplay were involved in Make Trade Fair's campaign launch back in 2002 and signed up to dedicate 2 years to the cause. They continues to actively support MTF beyond those years. MTF is part of Oxfam and as you may know, the band are still heavily involved with the charity.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I was just curious, do you know, or are you at liberty to reveal if any songs from Ghost Stories will be appearing in the iTunes festival. Thank you!

Zakk, Biggest Fan.

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

Phil tweeted earlier that they were still working it out. We don't usually give such information away in advance so if you're unable to watch the live stream tonight, you will have to wait until after the show to find out.

Q. I was rewatching the Live 2012 and I wanted to ask something, the group played football and I would like to know in which stadium/country they played if it's possible :) Thanks!

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

In the Live 2012 DVD the band are just kicking a ball about. As they always have a ball with them they will have played various ball games in most countries / stadiums. Coldplay band & crew members play quite a bit of football when they're on tour. They even have their own football shirts.

Over the years they have played friendlies (taken seriously!) against professionals as well as a team led by Robbie Williams in 2005 for example. In 2010 during the Viva tour in Sao Paulo, the band played a game with Corinthians players, including the legendary Ronaldo.

They also play cricket and table tennis, the latter getting very competitive.

Q. Dear Oracle, did you sleep last night?

It was such a great show! But now I need more! Any news?

have a nice day, kisses

Carol.

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

I slept from 23.30 - 09.30 with a break at 02.50 - 04.10 for the show. It was indeed great. As you know, Anchorman is the bearer of all news so we shall have to wait for word from him - sorry!

Q. Hello there Oracle,

I bet you'll be getting this question a lot in the next few days: I just finished watching Coldplay perform for the iTunes Festival. When they finished with Midnight, was Guy... playing the lasers? Or perhaps he did not have a musical part and so decided to add to the theatrics of the show?

Thank you much.

THE ORACLE REPLIES >

That wasn't simply a case of great timed choreography; the lasers were Guy's musical part. You could see how the lasers and Guy's movements were in synch perfectly.

I predicted last night to Anchorman that it would be today's most asked question. It was - with another that I will get around to answering - and you were the first to ask it, sir.

If you saw Phil's tweet yesterday about "new toys", here is what that is.
