To be honest, wife beating is a very serious thing and if my mother had ever been beaten by anyone, I would read the comment, and whether I found it funny or not I would just leave it there and ignore it.

 

It's like dead baby jokes. They're funny but if you know a dead baby it's a sensitive thing. But I mean, if that happened to me and I see a dead baby joke, I wouldn't make a post about how I couldn't put up with it. Because it just looks like you're making a big deal publically about something that shoule very much stay a big deal privately. I have things that when joked about I don't find funny, because of things that have happened in my family and my 19 years of living, but I don't say "HEY GUYS THAT JOKE'S NOT FUNNY FOR ANYONE CAUSE IT'S NOT FUNNY FOR ME."

there's a difference between laughing at a joke (...the intention of a joke in the first place?) and saying something to try and get other people to not laugh at a joke. which has happened in this thread.
