Yamaha DGX 520 + computer = ??

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

i have this yamaha keyboard and one of the reason i chose it was the possibility to transfer the music in the computer to listen to it and share it with others. But , once stored in the computer, the sound is just awful, very poor compared to what the keyboard can do. it sounds like a squeaky guitar, not like a piano. Is this a limitation of the midi format or can i use some software to keep the quality of the sound?

I connect the piano to my external soundcard, and then connect my soundcard to my laptop, and use Audacity to record. You've got to change a few of the settings, but it works and it sounds great.

What program are you using, if any? You probably have to use something like REASON 4.0 to do this with any success and its pricey.
