Viva La Vida Strings (+key signature??)

Featured Replies

I've been trying to play VLV on my violin, somewhat like this guy: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsUAxG6c3Ws]YouTube - Viva La Vida - Coldplay - Violin cover[/ame] (yeah he is really good!)

But I've been really confused. Is that backing part (the one actually played by strings in the very beginning of the song) in a different key than the vocals? It doesn't sound right in A flat minor!

I can start the vocal part on C sharp and it sounds good, but it also sounds right starting on F sharp! I have no idea what i'm doing.

ok. How many Flats are you using, because I'm pritty sure its in the key of A flat major. When I play it on the piano, thats the key I use. 4 Flats not 7 ;)

Now these to should be the same, because the piano and Violin are the same, like you dont have to transpose or whatever its called.

Also it does start on C.

C, C, C, C, Db, Bb...........Bb, Bb, Bb, Bb, Ab, C, Eb, F

If any more question. Please ask and hope it helps :)

That's just great!

The original version of the song is in Ab this string version is in D. So the chords would be G, A, D, Bm.

Yea, this violinist plays it in a different key because it's very hard to play with flats, since we're not a flat instrument.
