True - and you could always change direction if it didn't work out for any reason. At least then you would have tried.

Well if you manage to keep to it, then well done.

Heheh....well I planned to go to uni...if they take me....I have to pass a test first...you know I want to become a professional musician...therefore I also have to learn the piano....maybe a "Bachelor of musical arts" would be cool....but I haven't decided yet.....I know it will be difficult' date='...but I want to do it so damn much...[/quote']

ah, excellent.

What would you ideally like to be doing as a professional musician? I mean, when I hear "professional musician", I think of session musicians who hang out in the studio and play for whoever needs 'em...is that what you want to do? Or do you want to play in a band?

Maybe you'll want to do what people like Jimmy Page did and put yourself up for studio hire, then if the right musicians come along with similar interests to you, you can form a band. haha...who knows..

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with it. *thumbs up*

Hehe thanks Henry....

Well...I can do a lot with it actually....playing in a band, maybe in a big band or being a solo artist (but this is not really what I want to be....).....I think time at university will be great.....they have different band projects there...they even have heavy metal bands...haha....

and you can choose between working with youth people or studio work....these things are a part of the subject and they should make it easier for me to find a direction after uni....

other parts of the subject are:

Song writing, arrangement, band experience, music theory of course... etc....

Heheh...and maybe I mentioned this yet....but my biggest dream is to play in a Funk band....just like they did at the open day at university....yeah!

Heheh...of course it could be worse....

and I mean for me there is nothing better for a sax player to be in a funk or big band...or to be a Jazz artist of course....

I think if you are in a trashy ballad pop band...no way....that makes the instrument Saxophon almost awful...

Check out Earth, Wind & Fire and "Freeway of Love" by Aretha Franklin, too.

Wow, sounds like you'll have a blast at uni with that course. Personally I'd be especially interested in the song-writing part, 'cause once I'm better at the piano and my musical knowledge has improved, I'll be looking to write a few songs of my own. =)

I really hope you get to be in a funk band some day...'twould be extremely groovy. ;p

Yes Mark.

And now it's time for your nap.

: p

Not at all - I'm full of beans!!:P

Ok, but you're going to be a big sleepy head in the morning! Yes you are, yeees you are![/patronise]

The "Let's chill..." thread is lacking attention, people. :-/

Hope everyone's feeling fine & mellow. G'night.

Haha...thanks again Henry!

Well....I'm also really interested in the writing part....I sometimes tried to write a song but I never knew how to start somehow....

somebody on TV said some days ago.......if you go to a school and learn writing songs there then you are just not born for it...it has to be in you.....I don't know if there is something true in that!hmmm...

haha, I think there probably is a little truth in that..

But moving on...check the "Let's chill..." thread, 'cause I posted a few great saxophone songs! : p
