Coldplay - Greatest Hits

Coldplay's contract with EMI is due to expire after the next album, so we'll no doubt see a 'Greatest Hits' with maybe a couple of extra tracks chucked in... question is, what do you think should be on it?

As of right now, here's my greatest hits:

1. Life in Technicolour

2. Shiver

3. Talk

4. The Scientist

5. 42

6. Fix You

7. Obligatory greatest hits sales helping extra track 1.

8. See You Soon

9. A Message

10. Obligatory greatest hits sales helping extra track 2.

11. Viva la Vida

12. Clocks

13. Strawberry Swing

14. Glass of Water

15. Yellow

16. Everythings not lost

Thoughts?

Strawberry Swing, Glass of Water, Everythings not lost and LIT have no place on that list. Replace LIT with LITii, put in Speed of Sound, In My Place, Lost, Warning Sign is good too.

If it was done properly by EMI it would be more of a 2 DISC COLDPLAY ANTHOLOGY.

Just like Oasis and Radiohead.

Having said that:

DISC 1

Square One

Politik

Shiver

Talk

In My Place

Yellow

Viva La Vida

Violet Hill

The Scientist

Hardest Part

Glass of Water

Low

Lovers in Japan (Osaka)

Death and All His Friends

Everything's Not Lost

DISC 2

Life in Technicolour II

Don't Panic

Green Eyes

Trouble

Clocks

Lost!

Warning Sign

42

Speed Of Sound

God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

Til Kingdom Come

Prospekt's March/Poppy Fields

Strawberry Swing

Fix You

As previously stated, a Greatest Hits is about singles, with maybe one or two really popular tracks that weren't released. I wouldn't even put all of the band's singles on a GH. However, a Best-Of is a different story. But even so, a Best-Of has to include significant tracks, not just fan-favorites.

I think a good Greatest Hits would be:

01. Bigger Stronger

02. Clocks (Radio Edit)

03. Yellow

04. Viva La Vida (New Edit)

05. In My Place

06. Fix You (Radio Edit)

07. Speed Of Sound

08. The Scientist

09. Lost!

10. Talk (Radio Edit)

11. Violet Hill (Radio Edit)

12. Trouble

13. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

14. Lovers In Japan (Osaka Sun Mix)

15. Shiver

16. The Hardest Part

17. Brothers and Sisters

18. Don't Panic

With a good, expanded Best-Of something along the lines of:

CD 1

01. Bigger Stronger

02. Brothers and Sisters

03. Shiver

04. Yellow

05. Trouble

06. Don't Panic

07. Everything's Not Lost

08. In My Place

09. The Scientist

10. Clocks

11. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

12. Politik

13. Moses (Live)

CD 2

01. Speed Of Sound

02. Fix You

03. Talk

04. The Hardst Part

05. What If? (Tom Lord-Alge Remix)

06. White Shadows

07. How You See The World #2

08. Violet Hill

09. Viva La Vida (New Edit)

10. Lost!

11. Lovers In Japan (Osaka Sun Mix)

12. 42

13. Glass Of Water

Damn...

Next year Coldplay will be celebrating their 10 year aniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if EMI decides to release an actual Best of Coldplay Volume 1, for real!

That would suck though, as everybody in the world owns all 4 albums anway...

i wouldn't be surprised if it looked something like this:

01. Shiver

02. Yellow

03. Trouble

04. Don't Panic

05. In My Place

06. The Scientist

07. Clocks

08. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face

09. Speed Of Sound

10. Fix You

11. Talk

12. The Hardest Part

13. Violet Hill

14. Viva La Vida

15. Lost!

I don't think it's possible guys!!!

I already think that the boys are past "Greatest Hits" standard.

It would have to be the Anthology Part 1..... and even then it would be difficult to narrow it down.

I'd like them to keep it real... accept that they are what they are and that everyone owns all 4 albums and not faff about with an un-necessary greatest hits.

They don't need to do it. Every concert sells out and every album is the biggest selling in the world whatever year it is released now....... add to that the royalties and i see no need for a greatest hits.

i really really hope the DONT do a greatest hits... whenever artists put one out it is just like they want more money, at least i feel like it is like that and plus it means that the end is usually coming and i dont want to ever think about that :(

It's not usually the artist that wants more money, it's the label...so I wouldn't put it past them!

true , very , true .... so sucks that they are money hungry

still not liking the thought of greatest hits... maybe because i think of that shirt chris martin wore

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe0vfITgZpE]YouTube - It's only Chris Martin from Coldplay...[/ame]

I agree, a greatest hits would be more impacting after CP have been around a little longer. Blur were at 6 albums, U2 at about 10... its far too soon if they want to milk it.
