December 15, 200817 yr Ah, okay, I thought you were yelling at me for mentioning a "label"... Nope :)
December 15, 200817 yr I just found our friend here in the New York Times comments section! Comment #16... http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/12/05/joe-satriani-sues-coldplay-for-cold-plagiarism/ Sounds less like a sophisticated "music expert" there and more like a guy trying to make some money... Hmmm.

Hmmm.:laugh3: It is him too. Like I said, he was no music expert- more like the definition of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. :inquisitive: Ooh, look at me, I know how chords work. That makes me smarter than you. Grr.
December 15, 200817 yr I'm reposting this because it's pissing me off  I just found our friend here in the New York Times comments section! December 15, 200817 yr ...Wow. His fans really were wrong. He's doing it for the money. =\ I am going to post this everytime I hear it is about money until I get a satisfactory explanation: For Satriani, if: costs>benefits ------> you don't file the lawsuit costs<benefits ------> you file the lawsuit where, costs are fixed: public scrutiny, family drug through the mud, hatred directed at him, time invested. benefits are not fixed 1. money (of which 1/3 will go to legal fees and 1/2 to taxes): this for a man who is already wealthy. 2. protecting artistic integrity. If you plug the benefits of #1 into the CBA equation, to me it does not make sense to file. If you plug #2 in, I understand.
December 15, 200817 yr Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... Coldplay fans can keep theirs and so can Satriani fans.
December 15, 200817 yr Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... Coldplay fans can keep theirs and so can Satriani fans. I am not a Satriani fan. I have never even heard one of his songs (besides the obvious one in question).

December 15, 200817 yr Okay then. People who are on Coldplay's side and people who are on Satriani's side, rather. I apologize for my mistake.
December 15, 200817 yr What? It's a simple cost-benefit analysis - not rocket science. I am simply pointing out that the costs are high for Satriani, too!

December 15, 200817 yr Uh... wasn't she referring to the guy who started the thread? I don't think so...I knew you would weigh in on this one ;)
December 15, 200817 yr It's a simple cost-benefit analysis - not rocket science. I am simply pointing out that the costs are high for Satriani, too! Ru calling me stupid?....Cause it seems like u are!.........But anyways...HE WANTS MONEY!
December 15, 200817 yr Ru calling me stupid?....Cause it seems like u are!.........But anyways...HE WANTS MONEY! NOPE...Not calling you stupid at all. But the comment "WHAT?" makes it seem like it is coming out of left field.
December 15, 200817 yr Wait, me? I was referring to the argument that Satriani is not at all doing it for money... My response was not aimed at anyone in particular.
December 15, 200817 yr That means that it was not targeted at bjaiken either, though. =P No problem...I just think a lot of people state that it is about money without thinking about the costs Satriani is incurring...like it is going to be a cake walk for him. But you are entitled to your opinion. I just have analyzed it differently.
December 15, 200817 yr ^Oh, ok. Clearly I need sleep. 'Sokay, I thought she was referring to Coldplagiarism too :stunned: At least, when I said that he looked like a guy looking for some money, I was referring to Coldplagiarism...
December 15, 200817 yr Well, to be honest nobody can really know what is going on in his head... So I don't know for sure.
