Red Nose Day is another name for Comic Relife...The proper name is Comic Relife, but part of the, i guess gimmic is that they sell reed noses to make money and thats why its also know as red nose day (if u dont know that comic relife...its basically masive charity event even that happenes eveer otheer year where they make millions of pounds....google it)

Comic Relief is a charity founded by Richard Curtis (of Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral etc. fame) proceeds go towards helping famine and poverty stricken areas of the world.

 

Red Nose Day is the main way in which Comic Relief raises money and is what I think you'd call a telethon, Chelsea. It's on TV for a whole evening, and is basically loads of comedians, bands etc. performing special acts. Then the public can ring up and donate money.

 

There's also loads of merchandise like red noses etc.

 

It's on every other year and usually raises loads of money. 2007 was something like £40 million. :)
