CD BURNING HELP WANTED!!!

Featured Replies

I really need help as my CDRom drive(E Drive) has broken and yet I still have DVDRom drive(D drive) which is working just fine!!

The problem is I just cant find a Burning software programme that will let me burn CDs on the D Drive!!!

Does anyone know of a programme that will let me do CD burning on the D drive!!??

I really need some quick response to this cos I have 2 burn some torrents as my computer is full with downloads!!!

Thanks!!!! :D:D:D

I don't really understand your problem...

Which program are you normally using for burning CDs?

You can choose in the program which drive should be used for burning, right?

And this is not working or what???

  • Author

I use a programme called Burn4Free and it only has one drive option!! I have tried other programmes which do have other drive options and I chose the DVDRom drive(which can also be used for burning CDs cos you can also use that driver for things like CD system discs!!) and they dont seem to work!!!

So this program automatically detects which hardware is installed?

  • Author

Well it doesnt actually detect which hardware is installed as such per se, but it only has one drive option in the drive option drop down menu!!

  • Author

In the prefs it only gives one drive option and that is the CDRom Drive!!!

So the program doesn't detect the other drive.

Is it an external one?

I'm sorry to ask that... but is it switched on?

Did you try restarting the program?

And are you familiar with the BIOS settings of your PC?

You could switch off the broken drive there, restart your PC and have a look if the program detects the other drive then...

My name's Anna btw, what's yours?

  • Author

My name is Rosalind, or Roz for short!! Everyone calls me Roz!!!!:D:D:D:D

  • Author

Where do I go for the BIOS Settings??

Hi Roz!!

Ok, so no :)

You have to restart your PC for that and I don't recommend doing anything in there if you never used it.

That could do more harm than good...

Which other programs did you try to use for burning?

  • Author

I have tried loads of other programmes, including Nero and Deep Burner and Roxio!!!

Nero, alright!

When you added your files and press "Burn" there should be an option for choosing the drive.

It is not appearing there?

That would be strange.

Are you sure the names of the drives are correct (E broken, D working)?

Can you read CDs or DVDs with that drive?

Sorry for asking questions which seem to be dumb, but sometimes it's just small errors rather than the big ones....

The thing is the CDRom drive tray has had difficulty in opening and it has been fatal to close it(when I log off the tray stays open, but when I log back on again the tray automatically closes) cos it wont open again without me actually getting a knife(!!!!!!!!!:shocked2::shocked2:) to prize it open and I fear that I may have damaged the lazer or whatever in trying to open it!!:D:D:D

But your DVD drive is working you said. Still it is not detected by various programs you said.

So I ask if the DVD drive really is working!

Insert a CD or whatever and have a look please!

Ok, concerning you CD drive:

When you right-click on the drive when in the "Computer" window, and you click on "open", does it open then? (which system doyou have? Windows XP?)

Is it an electronical problem or is the plastic / whatever of the drive deformed?

  • Author

Both the DVD and CD Rom drives are working for playing media, but the CDRom drive just doesnt work for burning!!

I am using Windows XP Professional Basic, by the way!!!

Ok, I'm trying to think!!!

Are you using Nero Express or the regular menu?

  • Author

No, I am not using Nero Express!! I use Burn4Free for all my CD burning!!

Oh sorry, you said before that you were trying Nero as well so I thought we could try to work it out with that...

  • Author

Well let me install that and we will see if it works!!

You should start thinking about buying an external harddrive! :)

That's what I did to move stuff from my PC that I want to keep but not necessarily need on it.

OK, back to burn4free then...

In the preferences you really can't choose a drive to burn to?

Where it says "Drive letter"?

Where are you from?

EDIT:

Ok, install it then!!! (congrats on your 100th post!!)

  • Author

Burn4Free only has one drive to choose from!!

Right now I live in the UK!!

That's something I'd love to say as well!!

I can't wait to go there again!

And where are you from originally?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that NERO will work...
