A Thread for Carla

Featured Replies

I'm going to revive your thread, Carla. To do that, I will post music videos of the biggest one-hit wonders from the '80s. I was watching VH1's 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the '80s and I just had to share some of the artists with you while sharing some thoughts about the songs. I will say this will take a while so your thread should stay alive for a while.

Key Largo - Bernie Higgins

My mom likes this song but I think it's so lame. However, I'm posting it because he uses a Humphrey Bogart line from Casablanca in the song, and I love the movie Casablanca.

David Bowie's Space Oddity was all about Major Tom, wasn't it??

(& Carla will need a spacecraft before June 1st it seems!)

Yes, it was. Peter's version is just a continuation of the character that David Bowie created.

One last video for you Carla before I go to bed. I know you're not here right now but I hope you enjoy these when you get here.

Toy Soldiers - Martika.

I love this song. It is a song about drug addition and it's so powerful. Tomorrow I will post a video of my friend's favorite group. LOL!!

Carla, this is my friend's favorite group, The Outfield. Now, I don't understand why this group is considered a one-hit wonder when the radio stations play at least three or four of their songs (which I do like), but VH1 thinks they are a one-hit wonder.

Your Love - The Outfield.

Major Tom - Peter Schilling.

I love this song. I have this song in both the German and English version. Peter Schilling is a German musician.

I like a lot of '80s music because of my older brother and sister and my parents, especially my mom. I know a lot of songs from the '60s to today.

Yeah it's catchy, first time I listen to it.:)

I don't know much music from the 60's I know I should since that's what my stepdad listens to.

This is a really catchy song but I don't know what she means by "buffalo stance". Oh, her background singers are funny!!

So, are you gonna move to Funky Town? :D

Now, you should know this song. It was the first song played on MTV and it predicted the impact music videos will have on musicians.

Depends...."won't you take me to Funky Town?" if you can take me there I'd consider moving :P

I wanted to post a video of Missing You by John Waite but I could not find the original version. All I could find was the version where he sings with Allison Krauss and I was not gonna post that version.

I also wanted to post a video of Harden My Heart by Quarterflash but the music company has disabled the embedding.

Hopefully, I'll find some videos that I can post.
