So whenever I log into youtube, it says I have new private messages and new comments left on my videos. When I've already checked those ones. And it keeps piling on, and none of them get marked as read.

But deleting all your temp files and cookies etc should rectify the problem...

YouTube kept doing this to me on FireFox as well until they did an update of the new version and it stopped being b0rked.

 

Could just be YouTube being stupid in this case.

I'm too attached to IE though. I dunno why. Just used to it I guess.

Well get Mozilla or even Google Chrome and you'll get used to having working internet real fast.

No! Chrome = bad! It installs all manner of little turds that aren't removed when you supposedly uninstall it. Death!
