iTunes problem after computer- breakdown

Featured Replies

i'd be very happy, if you guys could help me. after my computer broke down, the songs that i've bought and stored on iTunes were gone. the iTunes store still knows which songs i already have, but they're not in the files any longer. i (of course!) didn't make copies on cd's. so now, in order to not loose all those songs also on my iPod, i stopped the automatic synchronizing- thingy. which in return means, that i can't put all the songs, that I've got since then on my iPod. complicated description, but maybe one or the other of you got the point?

what to do? :\

well... that is tricky... that happened to me a while back... if you would let your ipod sync, the music that you've bought off of iTunes will automatically be added back to your library without a problem BUT the rest of the music... you might loose... I dunno... :\

That is one of the reasons i never pay to download music, cos you can lose it easily!

That is one of the reasons why I always keep backups and get rid of any DRM protection.

I think you should be able to plug your ipod into the computer, itunes will say something like "there is purchased stuff on the ipod which isn't in itunes, do you want to transfer?" and it should hopefully transfer all the purchased stuff over.

If not, there is 3rd party software out there which can hack the ipod hard-drive to give you the tracks directly.

it worked! i'm sitting here and am very very happy, thanks for your encouragement. now i got all my songs on the pc and in my iPod again. YAY!!! iTunes sucks...

Sorry for the German, but ... :D

Valerie, ansonsten kann man vom iPod auch die Einkäufe zurück auf den PC transferieren.

Zumindest geht das bei meiner Generation.
