in the US there is no minimum wage so loads of people have to live on tips which aren't guaranteed.

Yes, it's just a bit less than a normal minimum wage. They still have to get paid, though.

My dad's friend who works at Olive Garden says he makes $19 dollars an hour, thanks to tips. But that's an expensive restaurant. :uhoh:
