Gary Barlow has vowed to improve Take That's live show after his mother told him she prefers Coldplay to Take That and enjoyed Coldplay's concert more, writes ContactMusic today.

The 'Greatest Day' singer has revealed Marjorie loved his group's spectacular 'Circus' stadium tour - which they undertook earlier this year and which featured elaborate stunts, a 60 ft mechanical elephant and carnival performers - but has now told him they need to improve after watching the 'Viva La Vida' tour concert at Wembley in London last week. He said: "My mum was blown away by Coldplay. She thought we were brilliant but they were better - and wasn't afraid to tell me. So I'll have to up the ante for the next tour."

In February, Coldplay performed with Take That's Gary Barlow, The Killers... and a special appearance from U2's Bono... all on the same stage at the same time! Coldplay rushed from the BRIT Awards, from which they left empty-handed despite being up for four prizes, across London to perform at a charity show for War Child at the 02 Shepherd's Bush Empire. They were firstly joined by Gary Barlow - who had played their hit single 'Greatest Day' at the BRITS earlier - for a rendition of the boy band's classic song 'Back For Good'.

As he introduced the group, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked: "I think everyone agrees the band to see at the moment is Take That. We've just got back from Japan, lost all the BRITs, it's been a shit day frankly, but it's going to get better, please welcome Mr Gary Barlow!"

Its true though isnt it

Well I'm afraid Gary doesn't have a lot of hope because he lacks Chris's charisma and energy, and although Take That have admittedly upped their game since their comeback, their songs still don't come close to Coldplay's.:smug:

well said Mrs B!

Yes, she's clearly a woman of great taste!!:D

Gary Barlows Mum Loves Coldplay!!!:)

British singer GARY BARLOW has vowed to make the next TAKE THAT tour an even bigger spectacle than their trek earlier this year (09) - because his mum prefers COLDPLAY's live shows.

The Shine hitmakers hit the road with their The Circus Live gigs, playing to more than 650,000 fans in stadiums across the U.K. in June and July (09).

Barlow's mum Marge was hugely impressed by her son and his bandmates - until he took her to see Chris Martin's group in concert earlier this month (Sep09).

He says, "My mum was blown away by Coldplay. She thought we were brilliant but that they were better - and wasn't afraid to tell me. So I'll have to up the ante for the next tour."

wonder if they were at LCCC then?
