I just had a huge fight with my officemate (through SMS)

Featured Replies

I think tomorrow will be an awkward and uncomfortable day at work. My male friend/officemate and I got into a huge fight through text message earlier today.

I'm not yet ready to make amends, because I still think that it was his fault, yet I don't want to feel awkward at work. What's worse is that we're really close, he's my lunch buddy.

Anyone here been in the same situation before? Could you please give me some advice? Thanks!

It happened to me once, since then I do not having conversations with people by texting,

I just call them.

I don`t have any advice, except maybe talk to him and make everything fine again.

Good luck though !

tell him until he's ready to apologise he can find someone else to eat with. Do it by email 5 minutes before lunch!

A lot of misunderstandings can happen when you talk in written words!!

Could that be the case?

Maybe it won't be that bad tomorrow because you can talk face-to-face!

Of course I don't know what was the reason for the fight but starting the day with anger at him might not be the best thing...

If I were you I'd wait until you see him in person tomorrow and maybe keep in mind that written conversation, especially as short as text messages, lack a lot of information like intonation so misunderstandings and false assumptions can happen easily!

Hey Gail..:) Ignore said person, until he apologises to you.

Ignoring is stupid.

First, forget the text shite and meet him in person. Texting is no way to have a proper conversation... or fight for that matter.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies :)

Yeah I know. Texting is not a good venue to fight or even have conversation. I just had no other means to express my sentiments that day.

Well, though we we're almost always together, I had no chance to talk to him about the problem. So when I got home, I cannot really contain my feelings so I texted him. Well, Talor, it did not occur to me to call him instead.

I'm not expecting those words from him. It now appears that he is the one who is slighted and not me. I expected that he will show some concern and compassion, but that did not happen at all. So we just exchanged heated arguments.

howyousawtheworld and SueDeNimes are right. There could be miscommunication of some sort through written words, especially through SMS. However, I'm still hurt at what he said. Like I don't have any right to be upset with him.

I don't think I'm ready to talk. I know that pride would not get me anywhere. I just wish that he just realize the things we've been through and that I have been a good friend. I never give him trouble and supportive of what he does.

I don't want to lose a friend, but from the looks of it, doesn't bother him at all.

I really consider ignoring him for some time, just like what Rick said. I know, onute, it's an immature thing to do, but I don't want to be the first to make amends. Well Ian, I don't think that he'd apologize. You see, he believes that he has no fault.

Haha he believes he has no fault.....ditch him to the kerb. Everyone has fault's.

^ Yup, Rick. It's so sad how he's treating me. I chose to ignore him for the time being. Well, he has not made any move to talk to me as well. This just sucks!

Awwwww :(

Life is too short. Perhaps you should actually go and talk to him.

If you were really "close", you can sort it out.

He probably feels as awkward as you, so go be the big guy and talk to him ;)

Go go go!!

I just had one of these fights a couple days ago. I ignored the person for about a day or two and they apologized within 24 hours.

I guess in the end I just had to give up. I just couldn't bear the heavy feeling. Let's see what will happen next...

You're right Missy_Goldfish, if the situation affects me so much, I must do something about it...to make the problem go away.

It's not yet done though...As we didn't have any chance to talk again today, I sent him another text message (Yeah I really should stop doing this) to apologize to whatever I said to him that he didn't like, and that I will just forget about what happened. He did send a reply, but I am yet to open it. Maybe I'll wait for a while.

The last three days had been crazy...

@flickahidalgo - it's good that your friend apologized. I can't really wait another day or two. I just couldn't stand the lonely and awkward feeling.
