So, if you haven't heard, tomorrow night there's going to be a meteor shower! Apparently it's going to be one of the biggest ones in our lifetime :)

 

If you have time to stay up late and look outside (away from light polution) you'll probably see some! I watched one earlier this summer which was really beautiful. Depending on where in the world you live you'll have different peak times, apparently central and eastern Asian have the best view.

I used to watch the Leonid showers - quite cold out to do it, but definitely worth it! Caught a fleeting glimpse of a meteor entering the atmosphere and exploding - quite a sight, however brief as it was!

There's a couple of days to watch it, as I recall - enjoy and let's all move to south Asia to get the best views!:cool:

It's true - I'll swear by it!:sunny: But I had to wait until something like 3AM, reclining on some lawn chairs in the field. It's very rare - but there are lots of small ones zooming through the atmosphere - so fast, they're there and gone in a split second.. I wonder what it looks like as seen through a telescope?

I have no trouble to stay up late! :dance: I'm not going to miss it, for sure. I'm just worried if it's not clear enough to be seen here :shifty:

Rudy, you'll have to fly above the clouds then!!;) Probably you'll have a day in the week when it stops raining - a window in the sky, so-to-speak.

They actually recommend against using a telescope, so you can get a wider view of the sky since they're al over the place. They said it could be up to a few dozen per hour :)

 

When I watched one this summer they were all over the place, me and some friends got some blankets, a cd player, and just lay in a field. Got bitten to hell but it was really nice. I'm excited for this one :D It says it will be clear tomorrow night, let's hope it stays that way!

That's the one I've seen before as well...I woke up at 4am to watch it and boy it was worth it *is in awe*

 

I know this isn't a meteor shower but one night there was a huge aurora that blanketed the sky right outside my house (and no I wasn't in the arctic!). Mostly green purple and pink....sooo beautiful...I love space :heart::heart::heart: nature at its finest.

Even though it's basically just really pretty looking space garbage :P

She's good! We're both really busy with our second year at uni, it's so much work! I've basically had exams every 2 weeks since the start of october:stunned:

 

Yep! Me and Mindy saw them together. I was supposed to go with a friend but she couldn't afford it in the end. Wonderful as always. Making my Coldplay concerts up to 5 now! And we together bought a beer :laugh3:

We've been legal since May, but we hadn't bought a beer at a concert yet. So we got split one at Coldplay :D I mean $11 is a lot for a cup!

Not sure about the time zone, i just got back from watching it, it's 4:30am ET. Managing to catch a glimpse of them with my eyes was enough, I don't know how it would be possible to capture it on camera.

 

It was really beautiful to watch. We were out for about 2 hours before we were freezing and went home. Went up north slightly away from the light pollution which I'm sure made quite a difference. The stars themselves away from city lights were nice to look at. We saw a few really bright ones which were fantastic and a bunch of smaller ones. Had a good night overall, minus the cold weather. Cuddiling up helped out though.

But the skies were really clear which was awesome also :)
