Since when are the Ting Tings new?

 

This list is really boring compared to last year. It would have been nice to see Phoenix in the Album of the Year category, they really deserve it. :sad:

 

Don't forget this is the same awards show that had Feist up for new artist in 2007 or 2008 even though she's been around and putting out albums for since early 2000s.

i'll defend the grammy's. just cuz you don't like pop music doesn't mean it isn't good for what it is. it's not supposed to be as musically sound or have as profound lyrics as some other music. take it for what it is. it's still an undeniable important part of music.

 

what does bother me thoguh, is when the grammy's give the awards to the oldies just cuz they feel they owe them (last year over lil wayne or coldplay or radiohead)

 

I've got no problem with pop music, either. In fact, some of my favorite music is rock that has great pop sensibilities (i.e. catchy, melodic, full of hooks). What you have to do is distinguish disposable pop from non-disposable pop. But is this really the best that music has to offer in 2009? To be fair, I don't really listen to Lady GaGa, Beyonce, or Black Eyed Peas, so maybe I am wrong. Is this classic pop music along the lines of Prince or Michael Jackson?

And I'm not saying they're all shitty, but come on.....NO NLOTH?! I don't care how many people might think it's not good enough, it's more decent than any albums above. It shold've at least get nominated imo. Pretty disappointing. Oh well :\

NLOTH is for me the most intimate most clever album since Zooropa. It obviously deserves more Grammy nominations.
