YouTube Playing Issues

Featured Replies

For some reason, I'm just having flat-out issues with YouTube. Most times, videos will not play or load at all despite me clicking the play button.

In case you need specs, I'm running Firefox 3.0.15 (latest update) on Win XP.

YouTube says it needs JavaScript/Flash Player to play videos so here are the details of those

Java Platform SE 6 U 14 ("Next generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_14 for Mozilla browsers")

Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

It shouldn't be a problem with the players, because I have two and this setup has worked perfectly before

Halp? Playing flv videos should be pretty easy, I shouldn't have problems with it like I do now

you trying to see the vids from official channels?

some channels don't allow some videos to be broadcasted in some countries, if it is about music videos you refer, they claim is due to copyright infringement in your country, but it should be said, it should show a text saying that. (some institutional associations are becoming so strictly about that stuff everywhere).

other may be is it just have like a gap, just refresh the page and it should work.

other reason could be you tried to run youtube, while they were down due to maintenance tasks.

may be you have installed some new software or game and it has changed your options when navigating.

also, all the update software, is indeed up to date?

at times they be so annoying not allowing the computer to work properly until you download and install the update.

other than that i don't know what else could be your problem if you have the lastest flashplayer and so on.

i run with an old firefox and last flashplayer (now), and have no problem.

hope it all helped a bit.

I had the issue myself some time ago... any chance youtube's saying:

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."?

Try upgrading to Firefox 3.5.

Are you using ad-blocking Software?

I'm not exactly a newbie when it comes to YouTube, I've tried all of this.

Everything seems to be up-to-date.

Um... I did describe when I pressed the play button, nothing played or loaded. The player doesn't even show up if you get that message.

No ad-blocking software at all, so I don't see what could be wrong.

Can you post the exact error message here, then?

If you've already installed Firefox 3.5, you can try to uninstall both Java and Flash plugins and reinstall them after you've restarted your computer. It might help resolving detection errors - YouTube seems to be very picky when it comes to Browser-Plugins.

If you've got another web-browser on your PC, does it work there? If so, it's clearly an Firefox issue.

Hi Emma, is it like that for all videos, all the time or does it just happen from time to time?

YouTube is a bitch for me lately as well but if I wait a few moments or refresh the page it eventually starts loading.

As it depends on the time when I want to watch videos, I just thought it's their server problems... sometimes videos don't even start loading, at other times the same video is loaded within seconds

I know you're a smart girl  but did you try if it depens on the size of the file?

Like HD videos not loading etc?

Might be your internet connection speed?

Sorry, this is probably all not helping :disappointed:

I hope you can solve the problem soon however!

actually, she hasn't upgraded to Firefox 3.5 yet. her browser's still on 3.0.15

anyway, this problem shouldn't be because of an older Firefox browser & i'll echo winnie's suggestion to re-install the Java & Flash plug-ins.

another thing to check, if you haven't already, is whether any of your media players (WMP, iTunes, QuickTime, RealPlayer) may have been reset to be the default player for FLV files or streaming media in general.
