Believe me, I know :P

I'm listening right now..

I feel like reviewing.

violetsparks

1. OMG, love track one. I always love track one. This time it comes with haunting female voice. Then rhythm ascends. Haunting, haunting riffs. Oh, her voice is magical. There, the official introduction of the rhythm section, faster tempo came along it him. Somewhat like COL. Love it! I need to know who they are (although I can easily check the track listing)!

2. Beirut? Still presents the same mood with the previous song. Hope the piano will be the only instrument through the whole song…. nope, here comes another one. And then there's a band. Not disappointing though. In fact, it is fantastic (what??? only for outro???)

3. Softy whispery vocals with guitars. The lyric is perhaps interesting. The vocal harmony is somehow distracting at some places, though great at other spots. Ooo piano. Wait, where's the piano again. The instruments started to grow in numbers. I didn't notice that they slowly building to forte. Dare I say that the whisper isn't sexy enough.

4. whoa, a surprise. Suddenly jumping mood. Cannot say that I like the idea though because I already sank in the hazy mood. I'm not saying that this track is bad, it's okay. forgettable.

5. Choir? what??? this reminds me of Tarja's album which was my biggest regret of all time. *here comes the vocal* Or maybe it's Tarja?

6. Guitar is nice. Chord sequence is nice. Vocal is promising. Oooohhh, I love this song. Like songs I would hear when I was little, or the songs that I can use to recollect my past.

7. Sounds familiar. A bit 90s-ish. A song that would perfectly accompany an indie movie. I can imagine finding this song in Juno soundtrack. I can even imagine Ellen Page sing this song. Ah, I feel good already.

8. why do you have to ruin my mood all the time. Tarja again?? No? Yes? either way

9. Woohoo. I like this. Reminds me of Japan. I don't know why. Japanese music is certainly not like this. Trumpet!!! Sexy bassline. Yummy like a piece of strawberry cream cheese cake.

10. Buble! Hahahaha. Totally unexpected. Very nice surprise indeed. I'm starting to question your taste :inquisitive: :laugh3:

11. Pop? Owl City?? Sounds so bubblegummy. Like no real instrument. It is a good enough song, it will be memorable in your mixtape but forgettable in history of music.

12. Horror-like piano. Similar mood to first 3 tracks. Regina? Regina!! lovelovelovelovelove. Hallelujah!!

13. Guitar and atmospheric wailing, interesting…. Look!! I gave you 3 facepalms. You gave me 3 facepalmic songs!! Well, at least this time I want to listen to the lyric.

14. Dance! :dance::dance::dance:

Whoa! Dance with guitar riffs :dance::dance:

Hey! Dance with vomiting vocalist :dance::dance:

Oooh! Dance with Oooh Oooh's!!:dance::dance:

Damn! Dance with solo guitar!!:dance::dance:

15. I'm quite concerned that this kind of goodish intro will lead to a beyond belie cheesy song. "you are the new day". Well so far so good. Until the end it's good *i'm greatly relieved

16. Oh so American song. That's already not my type. He cannot deny his Americanness. Oh he was betrayed… poor him. Whoa, down boy… and your obsession to the word "first"

17. :laugh3::lol::laugh4: A very, very fun closing. "Virus Alert!!"

Over all 4:facepalm:s, 3 in a bad way, 1 in a good way

So I can tell from your facepalm count that it was the metal stuff that you didn't like. It's OK; my original recipient for the mixtape was kinda the same way. My main goal was to make the tape as diverse as possible, and I figured including different genres would be a good way of doing that.

Anyway, tracklisting again:

1. "Glass"-Bat for Lashes [COL? Who's that?]

2. "Un Dernier Verre (Pour la Route)"-Beirut [i generally find Beirut to be fantastic in general. :) ]

3. "Amazing"-Blue October [The lyrics are a bit depressing, yes]

4. "Tiny Little Robots"-Cage the Elephant

5. "The Last Crusade (A New Age Dawns, Part 1)"-Epica [Nope, not Tarja; it's Simone Simons singing.]

6. "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song"-Fleet Foxes

7. "Chelsea Morining"-Joni Mitchell [it's actually from the '60s. BAHA.]

8. "Forever"-Kamelot [sorry! Again, not Tarja; this time, the singer is Roy Khan.]

9. "Wheels Over Me"-Mew [They do kinda sound like that at times.]

10. "All I Do Is Dream of You"-Michael Bublé [Question me all you want. I'mma still listen to him. :laugh4:]

11. "Hot Air Balloon"-Owl City

12. "Human of the Year"-Regina Spektor

13. "Soldier Side"-System of a Down [That's what drug me to this song, is lyrical content.]

14. "Public Service Announcement"-The Bravery [My mixtape recipient really loved this one, too. I'm glad The Bravery are getting so much love. :wacky:]

15. "You Are The New Day"-The King's Singers

16. "Last to Know"-Three Days Grace [They're actually Canadian. :P]

17. "Virus Alert"-Weird Al Yankovic [He's a funny guy. I wish I had more of his stuff.]

Yew liek Regina? :wacky:

^ I plan on getting more mixtapes tomorrow. I may look at yours. :)

Yay! What album of hers do you like best?

Thank you soooo so so much! :cheesy::heart:

Oh and track 20 was this:

Old classic :)

Finally, my review for the fantastically patient Yellowtalking :nice:

1.starts softly, with pretty acoustic guitar and humming. Heavier drums come in, unexpectedly, but it’s a nice beat and a pretty melody. Piano, guitar, drums. Singer is singing in a foreign language, so I don’t understand the lyrics, but it sounds really nice! Like this one. :)

2. nice guitar intro… “on a day like today…” nice vocals. This reminds me of something, but I can’t put my finger on what exactly. Nice, not my favorite, but quite good.

3. Sigur Ros, Hoppipola  love this one. It’s actually THE ONLY Sigur Ros song I know… I guess I should check them out. Where do you recommend I start?

4. This one sounds kind of like stuff from the early 90s… “this monkey’s gone to heaven”? I *think* that’s what they’re saying! :P This one’s Ok.

5. Interesting guitar intro. Male and female vocalists… like the melody. Like this one. “you just keep on getting closer…”

6. Mmm… definitely different. A bluesy opening… OH! This is the Dave Matthews Band! Probably off their new album? Don’t know this song, but it’s definitely Dave. :)

7. Nice guitar intro. Oh, this sounds like David Bowie. I know basically NO David Bowie, but this definitely sounds like him. Liking it! “there’s a starman waiting in the sky…” definitely Bowie!

8. Ooh, great instrumentation… a violin and a mandolin! “I wish I was a fisherman…” nice! Really pretty music. The singer sounds nothing like Bruce Springsteen, but for some reason, he reminds me of him.

9. “I love the feeling when we lift off…” good beat; like the singer’s voice. Oooh, I like this. Has a familiar feel to it, but I know I haven’t heard it before. Definitely a rocker… “this fear’s got a hold on me…” Really like this one!

10. This one sounds quite a bit country (but good country!) “you’re in a tailspin..” this singer’s voice sounds familiar, but I can’t place it. Pretty good!

11. Synths to open, soaring vocals, wow! This is really cool! Really interesting instrumentation… can’t make out much of the lyrics, but I really like the sound of this one. “I don’t mean to seem like I care about material things…” Interested to find out who this is!

12. Ahhhh! Gorgeous guitar opening… it’s “Romeo and Juliet”! I know the Dire Straits version… this one is definitely different from the version I have. Love it, though!

13. Ooohh, pretty! Female vocalist and piano. “they’re going to eat me alive, if I stumble…” Really like her voice. ”help I’m alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer” Like this one a lot! Oh! It’s a demo! That explains the sparse instrumentation. Like it!!

14. Upbeat, fun. Reminds me of Vampire Weekend. “…I’m not down” fun rhythms and melody. Like!

15. DMB! The Space Between. :) Probably my favorite song off of that album (which I haven’t really listened to a lot, to be honest). I loved the first 3 DMB albums, then they started to lose me. I should check them out again!

16. “Seems like the world’s gone underground…” Nice. Love the vocals. Really pretty.

17. “it’s that ancient love…” The singer’s voice is really interesting (in a good way!). Like the melody and instrumentation as well. Sounds like an older track, but I’m probably wrong about that. Like this one.

18. OK, I confess, I think some of these are out of order because the original track number showed up… so I don’t know if this is supposed to be track 18 in your mix, but that’s where I’m putting it. “I don’t feel alright…” Pretty melody, high voice. Like the guitar. “why don’t we share our solitude…” just simple repeated guitar and piano chords, until it breaks into a fuller sound a couple of minutes in. It’s a very nice melody and nice sound, but it does go on for quite a while there at the end. Overall good, though could have been a lot shorter!

19. Wow! That’s a high voice for what I’m assuming is a man. It’s a pretty song… can’t make out a lot of the lyrics… something about “underneath the windowsill…” “Let us be happy while we’re still young” I like it. :)

20. the “protected” track you informed me is supposed to be Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb. I will confess, I am NOT a Pink Floyd fan. The only song I really like by them is “Wish You Were Here”. This one’s OK, though.

21.!!!!!! A Message 2010!!!!!! Love, love, love

Really liked your mixtape! Lots of stuff that was new to me and I'm eager to learn more about! Thanks for sharing it! :nice:

^ If you want to get into Sigur Rós, start with "Takk..." and "( )." :wacky:

Thanks I'll check these bands :)

I went to Arras last year cause the Main Square is paired with Werchter and I'm thinking about doing the same this year cause even if Werchter is always a slightly bit more interesting (well, not last year they didn't have Gossip whereas they were at the Main), I cannot imagine sleeping in those dirty camp sites.

So... I might choose Arras again, and in case the bands are not as interesting in Arras as in Werchter, I might end up choosing not to go anywhere (just cause of this stupid hygiene problem:\)

I know what you mean! I don't want to sleep at Werchter either, or take a shower there :\

I go for one day and go home at night.

I wanted to go to Arras last year but didn't find anyone to come with me. Is it comparable to Werchter? In a field etc?

I'd quite like it if you did. :)

Anyone made a indie-britpop-like mix tape? I would love to listen to it :D

Well until last year it wasn't comparable to Werchter at all and was so comfy, like, in town, on a beautiful place surrounded by shops (so it makes it less festival-ish you know, there's lotsa people who actually live in the town who go to the fest cause it's less expensive for them). There's not much people using the camping, I believe it's on a football playground or whatever. Oh and Werchter has 2 stages, there was only one in Arras...etc BUT this year they changed everything. It'll be slight outside the down, apparently between the walls of a kind of castle or something, which probably means DUST this time. 2 stages as well. And only 3 days...

Anyway it's still possible to sleep at the hotel I guess ;)

Yay! What album of hers do you like best?

The only one I've been able to get hold of :inquisitive: Far.

well mine had plenty from a Manchester influence, not sure if that's what you're looking for?

Great, I'll give it a try and let you know how I liked it :)

I'd quite like it if you did. :)

OK, Bernard. :)

The only one I've been able to get hold of :inquisitive: Far.

Well, at least that one's a good one. :laugh4: Actually, I feel as if that's her best one to date.

Check out "Begin to Hope," with the extra disc of goodies. "Baby Jesus" never fails to make me smile.

That's album number....?

It's the one before "Far."

edit: Here's mine if anyone wants to listen to it...

http://www.mediafire.com/?hhtwtiyyyuj <-- All the songs are marked because I don't get the point of making people re-label songs later n all...

Sara, you no longer have a working link. Sad day. :disappointed:

Also, to Bernard and MrNick...IDK if it's the computers here or what, but when I try to extract the files from the .zip folder for your mixtapes, the computer says there's an error in reading the file.

EDIT: I have tried on a different computer, and everything seems to be in working order now.
