First off, I am sorry I know it took me so damn long but here it is

Track 1

This is a very nice song to start with, I know I've heard it before but I just can't remember where.. maybe at my mom's car or something? probably cuz it exactly the kinda song she'll love, well I like it really nice track.

Track 2

I know this song, I like it so much Animal by Miike SNow, it's such a great and funny song, it makes me smile everytime I listen to it "I Change shapes just to hide in this place, but I'm still, I'm still an animal"

Track 3

Great song so catchy and the lyrics are so good too "Look out I'm just too fake for the world". Totally loved it.

Track 4

Nice choice, it's a classic and just awesome song. "Revolution" by the Beatles, I enjoyed every second of it.

Track 5

Nice intro, for some odd reason I know I'm so gonna like it, I like this guy's voice

Track 6

Same feeling I had with number 1, I am sure I heard it somehwere... really nice track.

Track 7

I fell in love with this song, love the lyrics, the guy's voice is just great. The guitars also rock. It's a chill song.

Track 8

It sounds a little bit like Arctic Monkeys... but I'm not sure, but it's a really nice song. I love the intro and the bassline.

Track 9

This is a The Killers one, definitely it's "Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf", I'd recognize Brandon's voice anywhere! I do like this song a lot! :D So far look like we have a lot in common.

Track 10

Nice acoustic guitar intro, really. I like the voice of the singer. Definately one of my favorite of the mixtape.Wow, just wow.

Track 11

'SIt back and walk through the daylight' I like it. Very pop-ish, but listenable. Is it me or you are a lot into british music? Very addicting.

Track 12: The intro is so good, the guy's voice sounds familiar, I wanna know who sings this song so badly, it's really good "We are all embers from the same fire"

Track 13

Hmmm this voice is really great. Jack Johnson? Love the guitar intro, really nice song :)

Track 14

Nice way to end the story. Another nice little acoustic song.

Thanks for the tape I liked it really much :nice:

First off, sorry this is late. I actually listened to the mixtape a couple of weeks back, I just didn't post the review until today after giving the mixtape a second listen.

1. This was a decent alt rock song and the vocals are ok, but I just wasn’t feeling it.

2. This was another alt rock song that was again ok, but I wasn’t feeling it either. Although I think I liked the vocals of this one better than the first.

3. I really like the intro of this song and the entire song overall which had kind of an indie rock vibe going on and an energy to it I really dug.

4. I couldn’t listen to this track because it was a protected itunes song and I wasn’t authorized to listen to it.

5. Same as for number 4.

6. This song had an indie feel just like number 3, but it also was a bit more pop like. I really enjoyed it because it had an almost danceable groove to it and sounded like something I would listen to.

7. Number 7 is a mello rock song. I really liked the mood of this song.

8. I instantly knew this was a Death Cab for Cutie song. It’s Marching Bands of Manhattan from their album Plans. I’m a Death Cab for Cutie fan so I was glad to hear a familiar song.

9. This was another mello rock song, and while I didn’t dislike it, I also found it very hard to get into this song, maybe because of the lyrics.

10. The tone of the mixtape changed up here with a great upbeat Reggae song about love. It’s also probably the first song on the mixtape that it’d be easy to dance to. I could see me adding this to my party playlist for when people are over.

11. Number 11 was another good danceable song that also had kind of a Death Cab for Cutie feel to it.

12. This song really confused me. It had elements of electronic and pop and I like it, and I could swear that’s the voice of Ben Gibbards from Death Cab for Cutie, but I’ve never heard this song and it doesn’t have a Death Cab feel to it.

13. I know that this is Vampire Weekend but I’ve not heard this song. I enjoyed it and it’s got an indie rock vibe going along with what sounds like some Caribbean influenced beats.

14. The mixtape ends with a good soul song by John Legend.

Overall, I’d say this is an enjoyable mixtape that starts week then gets stronger. It’s mostly a collection of alternative and indie rock songs that range from decent to great. Again, I couldn't get tracks 4 and 5 to play but otherwise this mixtape is an enjoyable listen.

Score: 7.5/10

I wanna know who made my tape!

you could've asked me any time you wanted but you wait until now. It was playyourlife.

I know :shame:... Thanks Bryce.

Okay, here is my review of my mixtape after about a month of having it. lol But, better late then never!

TRACK 1:

Very serene. I like the feel of it. Kind of reminds me of some sort of Celtic heir stuff. In a weird way though, I like it.

TRACK 2:

Reminds me of U2 mixed with Coldplay mixed with The Verve. Not something I would listen to every day. I like the beat it has and the melody. I am just not too thrilled on the singing.

TRACK 3: Classic stuff I would listen to. Sounds like Nora Jones. Except, it has a David Gray feel. Not bad, but not great. :\

TRACK 4: I'm glad to hear some classical/opera music mixed in. I really loved this composition. Reminds me of something Motzart or Schumann would compose.

TRACK 5:

I didn't particularly care for this song. It sounded a bit too "poppy". Like something that would be played on mainstream pop radio. Not a big fan of pop myself.

TRACK 6:

Ewww, sounds waaaayy too 80s. Don't like synthesized drums put into a song like that. The woman singing isn't producing her voice like she should. I just don't like the song, sorry.

TRACK 7:

Okay, I love this! Reminds me of track 1. Again, a bit Celtic choir sounding. Sounds like something a chamber choir would sing. I love it though.

TRACK 8:

Nice to hear a familiar tune on this mixtape. Personally, I really love Elbow. Brilliant song.

TRACK 9:

I don't really like this one. The person's voice is just a bit too wispy. It doesn't have enough volume or umph to it. It sounds just a bit "not-full". Like it's missing something. Maybe a guitar riff or something.

TRACK 10:

Must say that I like this one. I love the idea of the men's choir in the beginning. Then you add that amazing drum beat. I like the strings integrated into the song. One thing I am not too thrilled on, is the woman's voice.

TRACK 11:

Okay, this track has to be the best one on the whole album. :P I really loved this one! Sounds raw, yet full. Put's me in mind of Franz Ferdinand or something. All I have to say about this track is brilliant!

TRACK 12:

 Piano!!!!! Sounds like Chopin or Motzart in the beginning. Loooovee this track. When the strings come in with the amazing cello sound, it sounds very graceful. Okay, then it came to the middle/end of the song and I was completely in awe. I love this! Sounds like U2. Completely awesome. My 2nd favorite of the whole tape.

TRACK 13:

A nice way to end the mixtape. Leaves you with that ultimate serenity feeling. Kind of like at CP concerts when they play The Escapist. Reminds me of track 1 a lot.

OVERALL SCORE:

7.5/10 - Not the best, but pretty damn good!

Bryce could you please post my tape's tracklist?

Thanks.

hey Carla, yes, that was me :nice:

I was really glad you enjoyed it, I don't have much time to write now but you guessed it, I love my british music  These are a lot of my favourite songs at the moment. I wanted to mape a britpop-ish tape that you'd enjoy, and I definitely enjoy it. they're a lot of my favourite bands.

here's the tracklisting:

1. Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run (classic, I adore how there's 3 parts, and the transition between the last two is awesome!)

2. Miike Snow - Animal (edit: LOVE THEM (screwed that one up))

3. Hockey - Too Fake (one of my favourite new bands! kinda like The Strokes meet The Killers. Love the lyrics for this song too, he knows what he's talking about!)

4. The Beatles - Revolution (:D favourite Beatles song BY FAR)

5. The Kooks - Always Where I Need To Be (very very very catchy. his voice is really interesting, The Kooks are a cool band)

6. The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun (it's a bit older, probably.... I dunno 8 years? but it's awesome)

7. The Strokes - On The Other Side (I love the Strokes. They're amazing, great guitar, and Julian Casablancas is a really great singer. I like how it starts out darker, but turns super upbeat. it's brilliant.)

8. Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down (I love the start of this song, and it gets me really pumped up for skiing)

9. The Killers - Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf (LOVE the Killers. I'm nuts about them. one of my favourite songs by them at the moment. but who am I kidding, I love all of them)

10. Empire Of The Sun - We Are The People (Amazing tune, these guys are from Australia. The lyrics are wonderful. glad you enjoyed this one!)

11. Matt and Kim - Daylight (this song is great, I love when the bassline comes in. yes, this was the pop song of the track, and it's funny because they sound so British, but they're actually from the US! specifically from Brooklyn)

12. Just Jack - Embers (Just Jack is fairly unknown in North America, sadly. he's awesome. love all the instrumentals in there, and all the harmonizing and such)

13. Jack Johnson - Do You Remember/Remember [Live] (this is the En Concert version, one of my favourite albums right now. the whole thing is so solid. this song makes me want to )

14. Eric Hutchinson - Rock 'n Roll (good ol Eric. this song's really upbeat and lovely. there's a full version of it with more instrumental that you can check out if you want, but I prefer this acoustic one. I thought it was a nice way to end the tape)

  • 2 weeks later...
