2003 In Review >.< (Complete with several emoticons and hardly any description!)

So there's not gonna be a lot of writing in this, and not a lot of nostalgia since I didn't get into music until 2005.....but here it goes!

2003.....the first thing that pops into my head for this is pretty obvious if you know me.

AND SO IT BEGINS WITH OBNOXIOUSLY LARGE LETTERING.

That album would be Mew - Frengers

Good album, especially if you like guys that sing a bit like girls.

Yeah, you'd think I'd have a lot to say about this but I don't. </3

And due to technical difficulties I can't post videos so this is gonna be kept short, sweet and lame!

NO WAIT I FIXED THEM :freak:

It slightly bugs me how there's so many minutes missing from this but whatever :P

And now here's me going through lists and picking out albums I've heard and stuff, are you ready for this?

*should not have done this* :disappointed:

Me neither.

So you guys are gonna have to add a lot

Especially since I am a lazy person who mostly got her information from things that stood out to her on Pitchfork!

So here's a great album from the wonderful year of 2003!

The Fiery Furnaces - Gallowsbird's Bark

I love this album, I don't know if anyone else does though :P

The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?

The Unicorns, I find them awesome. Kinda retro only not :surprised:

Shame they broke up, especially since I don't like Islands :(

The White Stripes - Elephant

I LOVE THIS ALBUM, I'd love to explain it but I can't find the right words.

It's wonderful.

Most people know this song off it, though it's definately not the best.

YEAH EVERYBODY ABSOLUTION BY MUSE IS ALSO FROM 2003 AND GOOD. :uhoh:

That was actually pretty fun to make!

The broken social scene album is in both 2003 and 2002. which one is it?

  • Author

2002.

*edits post* :embarrassed:

2003 ALBUMS YAAAY.

♦ Muse-"Absolution" [My fave album EVERRR.]

♦ Radiohead-"Hail to the Thief"

♦ Mew-"Frengers"

♦ Yellowcard-"Ocean Avenue" [Their best album, without question]

♦ The Postal Service-"Give Up"

♦ Rise Against-"Revolutions per Minute"

♦ Michael Bublé-"Michael Buble" and "Totally Bublé" [The latter is a soundtrack thingy, more like an EP than anything.]

♦ Josh Groban-"Closer" [His breakthrough album :wacky:]

♦ Evanescence-"Fallen"

♦ Epica-"The Phantom Agony" [Their debut]

♦ Kamelot-"Epica" [Part 1 of a 2-part concept double album]

Hooray for Crests! :cheesy:

my top albums of 2003:

1. Hail to the Theif-Radiohead

2. Transatlanticism-Death Cab for Cutie

3. Chutes Too Narrow-The Shins

4. Give Up-The Postal Service

5. Soviet Kitsch-Regina Specktor

6. Shine-Daniel Lanois

7. thickfreakness-The Black Keys

OMG, HOW'D I FORGET REGINA!?

"Soviet Kitsch" is awesome. "Chemo Limo" is my song.

I prefer HTTT over Amnesiac. So sue me. Sure, a few tracks could have been cut, but it was the album that first introduced me to Radiohead, and it's filled to the brim with great songs (including "There There", a personal favorite).

(I actually admit to being a bit tired of reading about Radiohead, but at least that's it until 2007. :P)

My overall favorite album from the year is probably The Postal Service's "Give Up" (every time someone brings up an Owl City comparison, my response is "Yeah, except The Postal Service actually made good music"), but I feel the need to mention "Absolution" by Muse, which is my favorite album from them and - from my view - the style they should seek to replicate in the future. "Butterflies & Hurricanes" remains my favorite Muse song.

Somewhat on the topic of The Postal Service (I guess) is "Transatlanticism" by Death Cab for Cutie, which was their breakthrough album and the best DCFC album according to many, though I personally prefer "Plans". We've also got "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?" by Metric, which I actually hadn't listened to until last year.

I haven't listened to Frengers so I should probably post this part in really small print and maybe run and duck from flying debris.

Dude, HTTT is my fave Radiohead album. "I Will" holds a special place in my heart, for some reason. :P

Heyyy. Leave Owl City alone. :laugh4: I actually like his music. :P I like The Postal Service, too, though, even though I don't know them that well yet. I wish they'd get back together and make more stuff. :\

I totally agree with the Muse bit. "Butterflies and Hurricanes" is arguably my favorite song ever; it brings me up when I'm down, and that piano bit still makes me squeal like a fangirl inside. :wacky:

Haha, don't worry about the "Frengers" bit. It's basically stuff put together from their first two albums. :P

HTTT is really good, but a bit long. IMO they could've axed a few songs (backdrifts, we suck young blood mostly, but also go to sleep and possibly i will)

^ But those are the GOOD ones! D:

nonono

those songs i've never really cared too much for honestly. I mean I like I Will but it's one of the weaker tracks on the album IMO.

I love Backdrifts though.

HTTT was my favorite Radiohead album at one point, but it's not now.

  • Author

I could never really get into HTTT....

No, Mike. :snobby:

:P

Whatever. I still disagree. Baha. :P

There There is a boring song :escaping:

Ummm. I won't say there's stuff I dislike, so much as stuff I don't like as much.

It's really hard doing that with my fave Radiohead album. Ionno. :bigcry:

There There is a boring song :escaping:

but it's such a great song to see live!

*nudge*In Rainbows*nudge*

Leave "In Rainbows" out of this, and save it for 2007. You're going to do a bit on that in your year, anyway.

oops... i read it as it's hard to pick your favorite radiohead album :P

rereading it now i see i made a mistake

Well, my wording was a bit ambiguous, so I understand.
