Splendour in the Grass 2010

Featured Replies

It's months away yet, but all the rumours circulating over who may or may not be playing have got me really keen!

Can't wait for the first announcement! :D

The Strokes are headlining. Mumford & Sons and Temper Trap obviously on the line up.

From FasterLouder today:

Though the official Splendour line up is still to be officially confirmed we can add another name to our growing list of acts for the festival – former Verve leadman Richard Ashcroft and his new band The United Nations of Sound.

The leak has come via Ashcroft’s official website where the news section reveals that “Richard Ashcroft’s new band RPA & The United Nations of Sound have confirmed their first live dates [including] the bills of Summer Sonic Festival in Japan and Splendour in The Grass Festival in Australia.”

The bands debut album, intriguingly produced by Chicago hip-hop pioneer No I.D, is due for release in early June.

Goldfrapp’s tour drummer has also accidentally leaked that the pop act will be gracing the Splendour lineup, while a Pixies facebook update suggests they’ll also be in attendance.

And of course there are those suspiciously-close-to-Splendour tours from Mumford and Sons, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Temper Trap and The Strokes.

never thought much of richard ashcroft solo. cant see 30 seconds to mars going down well with the splendour crowd. goldfrapp has become super-poppy of late so they've kinda lost me too.

im really hope for at least one other really good act to go see at a sideshow.

Yeah I was surprised too... at the moment though Mumford and Sons, the Strokes and Temper Trap are enough to pull me in :P as well as the fact I've never been to a camping festival before!

I'm also hoping for a couple of better acts too though.

dont get too excited. its hell trying to get tix to splendour. so lets get over that hurdle first before thinking about who you're going to see lol.

i wonder if the move up into queensland will have any impact on ticket demands......

  • Author

Lol yeah I know that. But I'm trying to remain optimistic :P

I managed to get bdo tix so I'm *hoping* I'll be able to get splendour tix :P

Lucky enough to get them within about half an hour... the site was terrible, I was originally queued at number 828 and then the server failed and I was pushed back to 13000! But it all turned out, YAY :smug:

CAN NOT WAIT!

Apparently they were sold out by about 2pm yesterday.

42 days!

Yes I am counting down... it's getting me through these exams!

I know I'll be pretty much talking to myself in this thread but oh well :p

My friends and I are starting to gather up tents, eskies etc to bring, and I've bought a battery-powered camera and a battery-powered phone charger already.

One of my friends is coming shopping with me next week to buy clothes to wear, as we're pretty resigned to the fact that the ones we wear could possibly get ruined :P

If anyone wants to post any tips on how to survive a camping festival (this will be my first one) please, share! :awesome:

well im going to see 4 sideshows. so almost as excited for late july and early august!

  • Author

I thought you were only going to 3? Who are you seeing?

  • Author

You almost are, minus the "festival" part, haha :P

Another year, maybe!

EDIT: oh and 37 days... it's now close enough for me to start counting!
