Hi there,

I'm posting on behalf of the Coldplay act Viva la Coldplay. We are doing a show at the Horns in Watford on the Thursday 20th May and would love it if some of you came along. The details of the gig can be found on this page > http://www.lemonrock.com/horns?page=gigs&month=1

We'll be starting at 9PM and it costs £10 to get in (£8 if you book in advance). It's a renowned venue with a great sound and is only a short walk from both Watford High St. and Watford Junction.

I know alot of people are very sceptical about the idea of a tribute act, but we're not really impersonators or imposters of anything like that. We do our bit with the same stage set-up as Coldplay and we dress in the French Revolution theme jackets as in the recent tour, but our main aim is to do the music as much justice as possible. It's a good fun show we put on and we're all enourmous fans of the band, to the point of obsession, and if anyone chooses to come along I believe this will certainly come across.

For those who are interested, this is the set we've been using recently (usually we play 2 halves of 45 minutes). There's alot of stuff we have in the can that we don't often play (usually because alot of our gigs aren't to fans of Coldplay), and if anyone plans to attend and wants to hear something specific, we would love to hear your requests!

First Half

Square One

Lovers In Japan

Violet Hill

The Hardest Part

What If

Green Eyes

Don't Panic

Shiver

Speed Of Sound

Second Half

Talk

In My Place

God Put A Smile

Lost!

Viva la Vida

Yellow

The Scientist

Clocks

Fix You

Our web page is http://www.vivalacoldplay.co.uk and I would love to hear some feedback, whether it be positive or negative.

Ah, we do play it actually. Although as we have a problem of playing to punters who don't know anything bar the big singles, we find that people will just use the quietness of the intro to have a conversation. Pisses me right off, but they soon shut up when we kick in for the powerful ending :)

If you come then we will stick it in the set, will be nice to have some people in who appreciate the greatness of Amsterdam!

Lol, I think it would be quite a cool live tune, but we could risk alienating most Coldplay fans, never mind the ones who think Fix You is called Fix It.

Whoever they are should be kicked out straight away. It's a disgrace.:dozey:

^No it's not.

By that logic no-one could go to see a band (or even tribute band) if they didn't know all the titles to their songs.

If artists only let the most hardcore fans into their shows they'd never get any new fans and they'd all be playing town halls.

Thanks for the info maggotbrain. :D

I was only kidding, of course (as usual). However, it is a disgrace they don't even know the title of one of the band's most famous songs!

Haha, I agree. You'd be suprised how little some people know. As we have to play do alot of local pub gigs to keep us ticking over you get alot of punters wandering in not really knowing what's going on. You'd be suprised how many times I've been asked to play Wonderwall despite wearing a French revolution jacket and standing in front of a big banner saying 'Viva la Coldplay' on it. Hopefully the tributes out there playing to Coldplay novices are doing a good job of opening people's ears and getting them onto the band.

That's ridiculous! Almost as ridiculous as the Coldplay concert at the 02 in December 2008 when the guy sitting next to me had no idea who Will was!:dozey:

Send me a PM closer to the date of your gig and I will send a tweet out about it :)

Viva La Tweeta?

Whilst Will is a legend who deserves to be worshipped as hard as he hits a snare drum, I could forgive someone for not knowing the names of the band members. I guess sometimes you just have to submit that people aren't that interested :snore:
