So im writing a short story for english class and there is going to be an alien race that invades and kills everyone lol sooooo i need to name them something! and if possible something coldplay related? but not to obviously coldplay related if you can! lol or if you cant think of anything cp related anything will do really!

The Marks...or the MCSquareds. If you want them to be creepy and stalkerish that is.

The best way to go about species names, so that you don't just get variations of "Zog" is to think of your aliens from their own perspective: how do they see themselves, and from the people being invaded: what are the first things that humans would notice about them?

 

Now are you aliens announcing their name, or is it something the humans are calling them?

 

If the former, what sort of sounds does their language make? How would some variation of "the people" or "the warriors" or something they associate with themselves sound in their language?

 

If it's something that the humans are calling them, then what sort of a nickname would people start giving them based on what they're like? Or if you want to get really fancy, look that name up in latin or the language of the country that gave them the nickname.

 

Form following function always makes a story better and more believable.
