Coldplay on Matchmaker

Featured Replies

I JUST heard Coldplay's Scientist on the american show "The Matchmaker".

Didn't they say that they didn't want their songs in commercials or movies b/c that would be selling themselves out?

Do tv shows have to do something special to be able to get their song on the show?

Just wondering..

look at your mesaage soleil!!! :D

Just did!!

 :D

I dunno....the producers of the show probably just put the show in because it fit in with what they were showing or something. :D

Well it wasnt a commercial, it wasnt a movie, and technically it was "Music Television" and seeing as MTV have already paid for the rights of the Scientist (Video and, therefore, the song) so Im guessing it was all legal.

-Or else Chris Martin will throw a big rock through MTV Prez's window.

well they play loads of Coldplay songs over here in soaps like Eastenders...they are always playing clocks lol

plus tv programmes like Fame Acadamy have people on there singing stuff like yellow and in my place so they musn`t say anyfin  .

Well, matchmaker was a regular tv show and not music television, but... I guess Coldplay doesn't mind or else they wouldn't have let 'em do it. I have also heard them play Clocks on ER and once they played one of their songs in a trailer for a Peter Pan movie in the cinemas..

(the rock thing cracks me up, though :D )

Coldplay songs are on a lot of commercials .

If one of their songs is played for about a minute the artist does not have to be asked if the song can be used, well that is waht I heard anyway. :)

oh... ahhh! :idea2: didn't know that!

If you'd re-call during the MTV Movie AND Video awards, Coldplays 'The Scientist' was used in every MTV commercial for it. The Scientist was also used in Dawsons Creek and Spiderman 2.
