Your worst sunburn?

Featured Replies

That's what we did! Only we went during school time so we had to make up work and we had to play 10 games, not just practice. And yeah, since I was going during the winter my skin was totally not prepared for sun. It was snowing the week we got home

Okay, so here's the little update. 3 days later it's still bad and actually getting worse, super red, and now there's really bad swelling in my lower legs. The swelling is so bad that my shoes wouldn't fit. I had to stop by Kmart on the way to work to pick up some black slippers, one higher size, and even they were a bit tight by the end of the day. It got to the point that I could barely walk because my lower legs were so swollen and the skin was so tight, so I couldn't really bend my knees and ankles. I went to the clinic to see if there was anything else I can do, and it turns out that I have borderline second degree burns. They gave me 2 shots (one steroid to reduce swelling, another one for pain). Then they gave me an antibiotic prescription (in case there's an infection, and the steroid reduces the immune response), and also an oral steroid prescription. And that's on top of continuing with aloe vera, cold compression, and ibuprofen, ugh. They told me if it doesn't get better in 3 days to come back again. I'm not sure what they would do at that point, though.

It sucked because tonight was our playoff games in softball, and I obviously couldn't play. :bigcry:

Normally my skin would just grow darker and tanner, but I barely feel any pain, if not, not at all.

I somehow wish I'm darker.

I used to be darker back when I was young, but now I've sort of turned fairer. Or at least that's what people say.

i remember going on holiday, then getting home, shaving and having a tan line on my chin

looked like a fucking idiot

i regret not taking one but at the time i was mortified and didn't want anyone to see

My worst would be at my friends, few years back, we went to the river and it got really sunny and I Was bright red for like 5 days.

The memories are too traumatic for me to relive. :disappointed:

It's almost 3 weeks later, I'm still peeling, and my legs are still kind of red.

WTF.

I think this event has single-handedly increased my chances of developing skin cancer by about 444%.

I hope that you are lucky enough NOT to develop skin cancer.

Yeah, I can't wait until it peels. I'll probably have big sheets of dead skin, enough to make a nice lampshade.

YAY DEAD SKIN LAMPSHADE!

Anyway. January 2009 beach holiday. My dad foolishly decided "HAY LET'S USE SPRAY SUNSCREEN INSTEAD OF THE CREAM STUFF THAT'LL WORK FINE".

As per usual, I got sunburned. Biiiiig time. The spray had worn off in the water and my legs and back were pretty roasted. I had problems sleeping because I'd have to lay on the burnt parts and it caaaaned.

January '10 holiday was pretty bad too because I got really burned on my shoulders after not really being out in the sun for long. They got done pretty bad. They were flakey and stuff for over a week afterwards, think that time it went through several layers of skin... looked horrific, but didn't hurt oddly.

I was on the Miami Beach in May 2009. Everyone else was swimming so I was lying on the beach with nobody around. Thinking a few splashes of sunscreen would be enough, I put some of it on my back but didn't spread it well enough. I asked somebody to do it for me 30 minutes later but it was too late: I had the reddest skin ever for like a month and I could still see that sunburnt skin half a year later.

Oh I forgot to mention for the 2009 incident I had a bikini line during winter

I think during spring too

Yesterday. Band camp. 10 hours in the sun, and I forgot sunscreen. My skin started peeling today.
