Arts or science?

Featured Replies

I prefer arts better, but people around me have successfully convinced me to do science.

My major is Applied Science, so it's totally scientific. :|

If you can't decide, just do Social Science, it's like 'in between'.

Why do you follow science if you prefer arts? Don't let them get into your life.. that has sound dramatic and more for me who can't deceide what to do.

I will have lots of headaches this year...

Don't break your back! It can't be so hard... Basically I'm also very undecided on what postgraduate studies to choose. I'd suggest you to inform yourself very well on the careers you're particulary interested in, so you can make a more objective choice.

I like both arts and sciences. But since I lack any kind of artistic expression I went for sciences. :cheesy: I really like what I studied, and still have a long long run of it but maybe in the future I will study again... Maybe psychology, phylosophy, history or a master in Russian literature, just for fun. Who knows. :uhoh2:

I prefer Arts just a little bit more, very little, compared to Science, so I don't really mind. And so far, I'm enjoying Science right now.

People in my country has this tendency to encourage people to do science and look down upon people who do arts.

I hate it.

Yeah. That's such a disgraceful thought I think.

And so does the BA vs BS thingy. Sheesh.

Yeah.

It's like, if you're in the Arts class, means you're stupid, playful and a trouble-maker. And when you're in the Science class it's like you're gonna excel in life and be amazing and be the biggest geek evaa.

Which imo, it's stupid. Arts is amazing. Creativity is important. Not always equations and logic.

Yeah there was this one girl in my high school who excelled in her studies and at the same time dances very well. She said she wanted to be a professional dancer one day and people's reaction to that was..'But why? It's such a loss. You should do medicine' WTF.

Yeah. :disappointed:

But I gotta admit, if my class's number 1 girl decides to be a musician, I might gag over my food and wonder why on earth didn't she choose to be a doctor. :shame:

I suppose it's the mindset of people around here.

It's the same here... the problem with degrees like history or phylosophy is that the only jobs are teaching... and that's so boring at least for me...

That is really unfortunate.

I am studying Fine Arts at university.. lo que diriamos bellas artes =)

If I had to choose, clearly I would go after Arts. But obviously.. there's always a chance that you don't succeed on it. Though, if you think you might get bored with science, there's a chance you don't succeed either, because in that case you wouldn't doing what makes you happy. And that's what is all about. Do whatever brings you more pleassure. Think you will be living on that..

besides, you must know, an artistic carreer is not only about donig paintings all the time..

Yeah, I agree with pepa. You gotta do what makes you happy in the end, 'cause you're gonna have to spend most of your time at your job, and if you don't like what you do.. it's gonna be hard.

Arts sounds like fun. I did science. I guess I know I will always have a job, so that's a plus. :)

i'm more arts person than science. i like science upto the point when it involve too many numbers and formulae.

Arts or Science, it was my big big indecision in the beggining! I wanted both, but it was impossible :(

I'm in Sciences now, and I like it. But I have to do something related to arts at the same time in the future, I can't take my life just with formulas. If I don't I'll get seriously crazy.

I like when arts and science are put together. The world needs a bit more than just art to keep spinning, but I kinda hate those ones that just CAN'T feel nothing about a piece of art.

i guess it depend on the piece of art itself or the viewer mood/knowledge.

as my dumb history of arts teacher said: art is subjective.

but i feel :freak: when a too scientific mind don't see the world arts.
