snowing in texas

Featured Replies

There was a teeny tiny bit of snow on the ground here this morning, and it was supposed to snow tomorrow but now it doesn't look like it will. :disappointed:

I live in the DFW area. Tomorrow is the 4th day off of school lol! And more snow tonight! I can't imagine!

the weather here lately has been insane. infact all over the us it's been crazy.

I know, right?! I feel bad for the people in Chicago. :( Funny enough I talked to my friend who lives in Minneapolis and they surprisingly don't have snow LOL! Usually this is the other way around.

We are buried here in :cowboy:Oklahoma:indianchief: under 14 inches snow and 1/4 in ice under that. Had blizzard conditions, everything closed down, emergency rescues happening all over. Current temp from the back garden thermometer now reads 3 degrees F. and dropping by the hour.

More snow on the way maybe Friday, and def Sun/Monday.

I'm just glad I made it home from work safe. Almost had a wreck though!

Oh wow! I'm glad you're okay. Stay safe. Yeah I have to go to work on Saturday and I'm afraid to drive because I have a 30 min commute down I35 and George Bush. I haven't driven my car the last 3 days.

Driving home was insane. It usually takes me about 15 minutes to get home and it took 45. I'm just sipping on coffee now. Just what I need right now.

 Thanks !

We luckily never lost power so we have heat and comforts, but did run out of firewood today. who knows when we will get more delivered.

The police dept here even had to deliver some emergency medicine yesterday , there was no way of going anywhere.

Here is an example of what is going on on the roads, people stranded all over or snowed in completely. Pics from around my area, also proving Okies(even British ones ! ) are a tough lot and know how to take it all in stride !

OMG you really are snowed in! Thanks so much for the pictures! I'm not technically snowed in but driving is out of the picture.

those snow pictures against the doors are insane.

I'm tired of snow here... we've had a significant snow storm (at least 3-6+ inches) every week since xmas.

it's bizarre seeing it here.

i love the cold weather though

In my part of Texas, weather reports said there'd be up to 5 inches of snow by today. We got maybe 1/2 of an inch. :|

In fact, our university cancelled classes today not because of the snow, but due to the copious amounts of sleet we had, which have made the roads quite icy and dangerous to drive on.

Agreed! :surprised:

Yeah, same here. :| After the snowstorm two weeks ago I've been so sick of snow.

There's supposed to be more snow Saturday, then flurries Tuesday, then another biggie Thursday. :|

Yeah, my mom's work has a big division in Texas and they've been shut down the past two days because the ice was so bad. :uhoh:

:bomb: The local weather just said another 15 inches more coming !:bigcry:

I. cry.

BREAKING: At least 6 people hurt by falling ice at Cowboys stadium, where Super Bowl will be held

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - At least six people were injured by falling ice at Cowboys Stadium after another blast of winter slammed North Texas on Friday, a Super Bowl official said.

Arnie Valdez with the Super Bowl safety committee said one person was critically injured and taken to a hospital. He did not immediately have details about the others and could not say why those injured were at the stadium.

"The ice and snow melting off of the Cowboys Stadium roof has caused several sliding snow falls onto the plaza," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. He said most stadium entrances had been closed Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service had issued a winter storm warning Friday for Arlington, home of the $1.3 billion Cowboys Stadium where the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will play this weekend for the NFL title.

Forecasters expect a mostly sunny Super Bowl Sunday with highs in the 40s, and organizers said last week that the stadium's retractable roof will be closed.

The latest punch of unusual cold and snow hit a city still struggling to recover from Tuesday's ice storm, part of a massive system that paralyzed a large swath of the country with blizzards, thundersnow and bone-chilling temperatures this week.
