Marriage?

Featured Replies

I sort of think it's dated. I mean when you think about it it's really only a piece of paper that really states that someone is together, that's all you're really doing I guess is making legal.

Definitely. In other words, it isn't even worth the paper it's written on.

At the same time from what other people have mentioned I think it is good because it shows how you really care for someone and are willing to take it to the level of being with that person for the rest of your life.

Maybe so, but far too many people make a mockery of that ideal (e.g. the likes of Katie Price and Kerry Katona, who set a bad example).

I guess for me I sort of think that people make a really big deal out of it. Like my cousin spent like probably 30-50 thousand dollars for just one day.

That's the sort of thing I was talking about earlier. It's obscene.:dozey:

But I think it is something that needs to be taken seriously; if a young couple gets married just for the "fun of it", and to get attention and money (socials are massive where I live. I think they're ridiculous), I don't agree. They'll probably be divorced a year later, and that is more trouble than any of it was worth.

Marriage should be a comittment, not something that people do just for the sake of doing it.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. The problem is, an excessive number of people aren't taking it seriously nowadays, therefore it's a total waste of time.;)

Maybe the government should at least make it more difficult to officially divorce, to ensure marriage is given careful consideration in the first place, and not treated in such a frivolous manner.

Mine never really grew up haha Is it a Golden Retriever?

I think it would be different if I had met my partner when I was like 17. I only met my boyfriend about three years ago and we haven't been able to live together for very long because he had to move back home after he finished uni.

yeah he's a gold retreaver. I got him as a puppy.

and as for arranged marrige. that I am against. people should be able to choose who they marry.

Definitely. Arranged marriage is yet another outdated process which has no place in the 21st century.

me and rebecka are going to get married and live forever with our many cats

I think people need to let go of the past when it comes to marriage. To some people it means something a lot differently than it used to. Perceptions change, societies change. In many ways it's for the better since people aren't trapped in loving relationships. In other ways it's bad because people make commitments far too easily and make things very difficult when it comes to sorting out the mess and all the ties.

Just make sure you make yours special and don't worry about other people. It really doesn't matter.
