It IS referred as a bottleneck!! Because before there were slides, te guitarists had to use broken bottles to produce the effect...

I absolutely LOVE Johnny's metal thing! Its so shiny and cool. and it does stuff! Cool stuff. :cool:

I guess you can...considering everything I've read over here. But I really don't know, I've never in my life seen a bass player using that ebow thingy......

i don't think i paid $80 for my e-bow, and it was new... can't remember where i got it though...

EBows are useful tools,

I have one and it can make some nice sounds for lead guitar,

Ed from RH also uses one in Talk Show Host and Pyramid Song.

 

It creates a magnetic field that vibrates the string, you can control it by angling it or moving it away from the pick up,

 

It also works great on acoustics.

my sister plays guitar... its used a lot in guitar solos to make the guitar sorta schreech but it doesn't usually j=hurt your ears :P its a very cool thing :D
