My dad went to the University of Chicago, actually. He's a PhD with a degree in physics, so I have no doubt about how great it is. I might get some sort of small scholarship for being a child of a student, but I'm not sure.

The University of Chicago is an AMAZING school. I would have gone there for med school if they actually offered me decent money. You should really consider it.

Most schools have legacy scholarships, and something tells me you're very smart. I wouldn't worry about paying :P

Mmmm . . . I doubt that. Plus, even if you do get something, out-of-state tuition costs will probably cancel it out :uhoh:

EDIT: What exactly is a legacy scholarship? *has never heard of it* I'm assuming that's when you get a scholarship because generations of your family before you have gone to that school?

^ Haha, it's a private school, so out-of-state and in-state are the same.

Oh, something tells you, huh? :P

My dad was out of state (living in Ohio at the time), and he got a full ride for his undergraduate stuff.

Then again, he went to college in the mid/late sixties.

Is it?

Might be why I've never heard of it :P

. . . I should really start looking at colleges.

Dang, now I'm getting ads for colleges all over the place. :P

:uhoh:

I actually probably will end up looking at it at some point.

Well, I've always wanted to pursue a writing or art career, but there's no guarantee that I'll get a job that involves either of those in this economy :uhoh:. A biology / chemistry / science in general career might work (I'm in 'gifted', so science and math really aren't that much of a problem for me) but I really haven't found anything specific that appeals to me.

Well, I'm obviously VERY familiar with science at Mizzou (I've done little else except for that, Coldplay, and reading fiction) for about four years. So you should ask me if you have questions about that, or any other program.

I was "gifted" too (whatever that means...all I know is I was allowed to get out of history class 15 minutes early for it twice a week).

I was in G&T. In middle school, at least. They got rid of it because we didn't have enough money.

Hey, that sounds like me!

I appreciate your offer--I'll be sure to ask you if I need something cleared up :)

I think the definition varies :P For me it just means I can get out of class pretty much whenever to go to puzzles and logic problems and stuff.

Hi Jackie :)

That's...pretty stupid.

My school district has a rather unusual way of doing things; two elementary schools and one middle school in the whole district host the gifted program, and every other school doesn't have anything besides honors (well, high school has AP, but...). Unfortunately, my mom didn't know anything about the gifted program until the end of 7th grade year. So I'm stuck at this awful school where I'm hardly challenged at all.

I really just want to use this smiley

Although I did get to go to MathCounts (:dazzled:) for a whole school day last year, and I will again, but I'm not really sure if that counts.

Hi Alex! Hi Yam! Hi Starfish! Hi Brent!

I looked on mediafire, but it won't let me download without buying the program. :/

in my school district, there are 3 public high schools, 1 private, 1 charter, 4 middle schools, and something like 15 elementary schools. And then all the odds and ends.

We had an all-day party in the gifted room the day before Christmas break so we didn't have to go to any classes. We just sat and ate cookies and played chess all day :wacky:
