Ipod nano freezes/fades to black screen

Featured Replies

My 8gb ipod nano, which I got two years ago, is fucked or so it seems. Hopefully my description will be enough to warrant advice on how to fix it or if it's fixable.

Basically it won't move pass the language screen, regardless of battery level. The ipod wheel doesn't seem to be stuck, and I can push the buttons but nothing happens. After a few seconds stuck in the lanuage screen, the screen itself dims and completely fades away to black. Why?

I've reset and restored many times with no change. Itunes recognizes it when it's plugged in and the battery charges when plugged into computer and other outlets.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

It's really quite screwed, by the sounds of it. Maybe a new flash drive thing or whatever they use as HDs these days needs replacing.

Sounds like the battery might have decided to give up the ghost completely, also known as Apple's replacement program to keep people buying their products. A replacement will be cheaper than any repair.
