Hurts Like Heaven

Featured Replies

I'm in need of a little help if anyone can lend me a hand here.

I learned MX on the piano (easy enough) and I can get the bass of Hurts Like Heaven down just fine, but the only tutorial video I can find is by ColdplayChampion and he only provides back up chords, which is great but I'm looking for the melody to play solo. Can anyone help with that? Thanks.

I'm sorry. Since I started singing I don't play vocal lines anymore :<

But that's all you need right? Vocal line? If yes, you could try to train your hearing skills and try to do it by ear. It's around the chords that are played so it should be easy to do. Will you give it a try?

First I have a question. Are you ColdplayChampion on YouTube? (the username kinda suggests it. :P )

Yeah I'll give it a try for sure. Usually I'm pretty good by ear. If I knew the notes to "Written in graffiti on a bridge in the park" I could probably get the rest. I just need a starting point.

It's Bb, Eb in the verse,

the "you use your heart as a weapon" is F, Eb and then (and it hurts like heaven) Bb

And the "it's true" part is Dm, (yeah you) F (you use your heart as weapon) Eb (and it hurts like heaven) Bb

No, approximately, he doesn't mean the chords, but the vocal line. At least I deduced so.

Yes I am ColdplayChampion ^^ And I'm mostly opened for request so if you need anything, want to ask about something just do it, I'll be happy to help :)

Okay. The first verse is

F-----F----F--F---F--D--D--D--D-----C--C---C--Bb

Wri-tten in gra-ffi-tti on a bridge in the pa-ark

Bb--Bb--D--G---F

So cold so co-old

Thanks so much man, again. I think it's cool to see all these people I've learned from YouTube on this forum. You and ColdplayKB are two that I recognize.

Maybe you saw the comment, but in case you didn't, I left you a comment under your Moving To Mars tutorial (WickettTheiWok) thanking you for providing it. It was a great tutorial and it's so fun to play, so thanks again man, job well done. :)

EDIT: Okay it's actually coming along great, right now I just have one question. When he says, Yoouuuuu, oh you, use your heart as a weapon, and it hurts like heaven. What is the melody to that? I keep playing F, then drop to Eb, and then Bb, but that seems too low, like too far of a drop.

Really, no problem dude ^^

Yes I recognized you by you nickname thank you very much.

Well I can be wrong but I think it's

-----Bb----------G-----F-

Youuuuuuuu-uuuu-uu

-F----F----F----F-----F-----F--F--F-----Eb

Oh you use your heart as a wea-pon

-C---C--C-----C----C---Bb

And it hurts like hea-ven

When he sings it for the last time it's something like

---F-----F----F----F-----F-----F---F--F-----G

When you use your heart as a wea-pon

Bb--G----G----G----F

It hurts like hea-ven

That's what I originally came up with too, was F, Eb, C, then Bb. Could be right, both sound really close. It's like one of those touchy inflection things, so I'm not real sure what to use. Which ever one I like at the time I guess. :P

Thanks for the "Youuuu" part though, because I wasn't sure about that part either.
