To what extent was Jon Hopkins involved in MX?

Featured Replies

Meaning - what parts or segments did he write/play/record and so on?

Thanks CPers!

I actually read somewhere that Jon came up with the synth for ETIAW, not the chords played but the actual sound.

I'm 100% sure he was involved on the record but what I'm curious is what parts he molded so to speak?

Sound familiar? thats the only thing I think coldplay used of Jon Hopkins, but I don't think anything was used for MX

He also came up with the synth at the beginning of Violet Hill. Light Through the Veins was the only actual song that they sampled from Jon Hopkins, but the other parts were made specifically for Viva La Vida.

My bad I posted the wrong url. Don't know how I got deadmau5 and Jon Hopkins confused, fuck me right?

Well, actually that deadmau5 thing sounded similar to MMIX

I think it's just because that song had a slow intro then picks up about a minute in, which is what MMIX does to lead you into ETIAW. Funny how things work out like that.

Jon Hopkins is in the studio diary notes in the hardcover book that came with the pop-up album. Don't have it with me at the moment, otherwise I'd scan the page…
