Is this legal?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! this is my first thread but sadly It's not about something I would like to tell.

I know this is not the place to talk about politics but I am so angry because the party that almost ruined Mexico is using "Postcards from far away" in one of his spots.

I love Coldplay and I hate this fucking party 'cause they ruled Mexico 71 years and they almost ruined the country, they are not in power currently but they want to return selling a "new face" to the new generations that didn't live when they ruled.

But my question is, do you know if it's legal? do they need to ask for permission?

I'm not sure on this so don't take it as gospel, but pretty sure they would have to ask. Though if they use some sort of alternative version with a slight variation performed by a different artist, they don't.

I'd tweet or email DebsWild or anchorman with the info. I know there's no way Coldplay would let the Romney campaign (for example) use their materiel.

I know Heart sued John McCain or some thing and I think Tom Petty may have sued too. I definitely think you need permission.....

Yes, you need permission. M83 threatened a french rightwing party with lawsuit just the other day, I think.
