Coldplay proved just why they are one of the world’s top rock bands when they took to the stage for an intimate performance this afternoon for 2DayFM.

Three hundred and fifty of Coldplay’s biggest fans were treated to a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close to the British four-piece at the secret Sydney location at Sydney's Entertainment Quarter, in conjunction with MAX and Huawei Ascend Smartphones.

The band took time out of their 'Mylo Xyloto' Australian tour to bring their stadium-style show to this ultra intimate setting.

Coldplay launched into their set with the infectious beats of ‘Hurts Like Heaven’ then moved from classic Coldplay gems to tracks from their latest offering, Mylo Xyloto.

The rock powerhouse continued with songs ‘Fix You’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ and the melodic and uplifting, ‘Clocks’ had the audience singing along to every word. The dramatic final bars of a hauntingly beautiful rendition of ‘Yellow’ ended the show.

2DayFM, MAX and Huawei Ascend Smartphones partnered for this special intimate performance to celebrate the release of Coldplay Live 2012 on DVD, CD, Blu-Ray and download which documents their acclaimed ‘Mylo Xyloto’ world tour, seen by more than three million people since it began in June 2011. Coldplay’s current national tour is their biggest ever Australian stadium tour and will be seen by more than 200,000 fans.

Fans who missed out on tickets to 2Day's Live Set with Coldplay can catch highlights from the performance on2DayFM, MAX, vmusic.com.au and streamed on the Huawei Facebook Page.

It was certainly up close and quite personal when rock band Coldplay gave a live and intimate performance for 200+ fans at Trackdown Studios in Sydney.

Sponsored by Huawei, the gig was without any product promotion or presentation but prior to the show Huawei did give away their latest smartphone, the Ascend P1 to winners of a 2Day FM radio competition.

The band performed a number of their favourite singles and thrilled a fan who requested Yellow after the enthusiastic crowd demanded an encore.

Frontman Chris Martin admitted to a touch of fatigue after getting up at 4am for a show at the Sydney Opera House. Then the strobe lights went off, the heavy sound went out and the 30-minute gig was over.

TTs verdict: Well worth over the hour wait and security checks.
