I can't remember any thread about books and I thought people doesn't like reading... or posting about reading! :P

Well they are not very popular, but that doesn't mean you can't make one! Besides reading is excential! :D

Ah yeah, I love reading and I think everybody should do it too. It's essential for the education.

I don't understand people who said that they DON'T LIKE reading... :/

PUCCA! *insane laugh*

Maybe you should start a Coldplaying book club, where somebody picks a book and then on a designated date you all can log on and post about it.

Mmmmh, it's not a bad idea... :wink3:

A few weeks ago I saw a new on tv about a group of people who loves reading and wanna share the books. They let the books in 'strange' places like the holes of the trees, gardens, hidden corners in cinemas or shops... Then, you go there, take the book and read it. When you finish you let the book in another place. And, in this way, all this people read the sames books from different people.

More or less, it was the idea. I haven't explained very well, though... :/

Yeeeeah Pucca, and move your ass, baby!! :D

*dances like Pucca*

I think you explained it real well. Unfortunately, the Coldplaying.com community exists in a virtual space, a very difficult domain in which to hide a physical object.

You could start a book train, where you read a book and then send that book to the next person on the list. Within that book you can write notes or underline passages and that would be your means of communiticating with the next person. They would do the same and before you know it you get a book with multiple people's thoughts in it. Imagine getting a book in the mail that had been read four times, had notes throughout it, small stickers and cards hanging from it. What character! What you could learn about those other people!

The problem with that, though, is time ... not everybody has the time to read books at the same pace.

Besides some people's handwriting it's awful! [like mine] and I don't think many people will be able to do this!

seeing people's awful handwriting would be part of the point.

anybody have any suggestions on good books to read?

Harry Potter.... :D

I've been meaning to read those, are they all good, 'cause once I start reading one, I read 'em all.

4. Dickens' date=' Orwell, Heller, Steinbeck; East of Eden and Catch 22 being my favorite books.[/quote']

I TRIED to read Steinbeck (I think it was Grapes of Wrath?), but it was soo boring! The story didn't get anywhere very quickly and I wasn't up to reading further to see if it got any better. We once were gonna read Catch 22 for school ( a long time ago ) , but we never did, heard it was supposed to be good. :/

It depends' date=' what 'type' of reading, or style do you like? I'm not going to recommend you Ray Bradbury If you like Crime stories and so .... [i'm not even good for recommendations! I just like reading!']

Who's Ray Bradbury?

Any recommendations are great. Just nothing historical.

I think we should all join Oprah's Book club!

Your idea sounds cool, Richard, but I think it's a bit difficult.

As you say, people doesn't have time or the mood of read the book and send it to another people.

I love when some of my mates read the same book as me and we can talk about it. Although I'm horrible trying to do a review...

But If you can't understand it? Mine it's awful, but understandable [well, that's what people say]

It sounds like a good idea, it seems like a good idea, but it's just an idea!

That was part of the point. You have this family drudging across the American prairie. Day after day doing the same thing, seeing the same thing ... their lives dwindling away under the light of a faint dream.

It's not an easy read, especially the first time you read it. Yeah, it's probably not for everybody.

Wait, what's East of Eaden about?

Kind of a twentieth century rendition of the Book of Genesis ... set in Agrian California, the book follows the plights of two families and the Cain/Abel parallel within one.

The book is very ambitious and it's hard to adequately describe in a few sentences. It's my favorite book.

ok, sorry then, THAT is the book that I tried to read.

When did you try to read it?

I don't think when it's really a good question. Half of the books I read, for not saying all, are not for my age, but that doesn't mean I can't read them...

I was just asking because if you tried to read it when you were 17 or 18 you'd have much less patience for the subject matter than you would when you're 23 or 24.

Based on a Global Believe.......

OK ... I'm not sure what the heck that's supposed to mean, but OK.
