Cascading Waterfall
Two New Zealand nationals are missing after Malaysia Airlines lost contact with a plane carrying 239 people on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The plane lost communication two hours into the flight in Vietnam's airspace at 7.20am (New Zealand time), China's official Xinhua News Agency said. Vietnamese website VN Express said a Vietnamese search and rescue official reported that signals from the plane were detected about 120 nautical miles (225 kilometres) southwest of Vietnam's southernmost Ca Mau province. The airline's CEO confirmed this afternoon two Kiwis were among the passengers on flight MH370. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says their next of kin have not yet been advised. Malaysia Airlines said it was working with authorities who activated their search and rescue teams to locate the aircraft. The route would take the aircraft from Malaysia across to Vietnam and China. "Our team is currently calling the next-of-kin of passengers and crew. Focus of the airline is to work with the emergency responders and authorities and mobilize its full support," Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected passengers and crew and their family members," he added. All countries in the possible flight path of the missing aircraft were performing a "communications and radio search", said John Andrews, deputy chief of the Philippines' civil aviation agency. Fuad Sharuji, Malaysian Airlines' vice president of operations control, told CNN that the plane was flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet (10,670 metres) and that the pilots had reported no problem with the aircraft. He said the aircraft's last communication was over the South China Sea between Malaysia and Vietnam. The flight was operated on the Boeing 777-200 aircraft. It departed Kuala Lumpur at 5.41am (NZT) Saturday and was expected to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day. The flight was carrying a total number of 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members. http://tvnz.co.nz/world-news/two-kiwis-missing-malaysia-airlines-flight-5860665
Tash
The thread title makes it look like the two people from New Zealand are far more important than the other people that were on that plane. The Lonely Martian
I agree the article could have been titled better. It was titled this way because TVNZ is a New Zealand network. Why wouldn't you center it on your own kind? I'm from Australia, and we feel the same about the six Australians aboard the flight. We take care of our own, after all. Cascading Waterfall
About the article title. True TVNZ is a New Zealand site. I do think about the two Kiwis on that plane, but I also think of the other people too.

There was someone from my country on that plane as well but the Dutch news didn't mention that in the headlines, just in the article.

The Final Track
Heard now that it might have gone down in the Indian Sea, four hours after it went off the radar. This keeps getting stranger and stranger.
