Ghost Story - Chris's Chords and Tuning

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I'm completely in love with Ghost Story (The Target Bonus track). I know the chords are D, C, G in standard tuning EADGBe.

But...I have a feeling that Chris is playing his chords in a different tuning. Can anybody pinpoint the tuning and how to play the chords?

my brother helped me figured out the chords, in ST: D5 - Dsus2/C - G.

and there's a melody after D5: D- 4--5-4

pretty easy to play

I love this song as well. I'll give the above suggestion a try. I've been messing around with some odd tunings though. Chris likes to play his chords in very untraditional ways so I have a suspicion, based on the sound of the guitar as well as history that he's doing something unique here.

I believe all the acoustic guitar songs on Ghost Stories are tuned to DADGAD.

At least Ink and Oceans are. Both capo 4, both same guitar and positioning of the GS symbols. Check it out.

No, that's bullshit, I've went to a GS concert and he often changes his guitar, so why should he do that if they were In same tuning? Oh, Oceans tabs are already available btw!

Oh and it's not dadgad, remember, Chris is not Andy and doesn't play fungerstyle!

Yes he does change his guitar quite often. Why should he do that? That's up to Chris. Why don't we ask Oracle hmm?

Hahaha, it would be funny if he actually answer that

Actually the tuning is DGDGAd, not DADGAd.

You can hear it when Chris singing "in the rain...the raaainn..". In that second "rain" the second string is clearly open and tuned to G.

Therefore the chords are:
