I love Jonny's solo in this song, no matter how simple it is.

 

I am trying to figure out what effect he's using to reach those harmonized, high-pitched notes towards the end of the solo. Sounds like a Micro Pog pedal is being used but I could be wrong. There are no videos showing what he does exactly (from what I've attempted to search). Maybe he's using a Digitech Whammy but I thought he stopped taking those on tour.

My guess is the Micro Pog since that gets used on Violet Hill in the live version. Though I also wonder if he's using some kind of envelope filter kind of thing...it almost sounds like certain guitar solos from Muse where I have a feeling Matthew Bellamy is running some kind of synth-generator or envelope filter. I haven't been able to figure out exactly either though. :)

The effect in my opinion sounds like he is just swelling up the volume

I got a Micro Pog recently and it nailed the higher-octave, bell-like sounds. Don't know how he does the weird swelling sound though. Seems like a volume pedal.
