  1. Judging from the EP, I will guess they’re going back to a more experimental mindset like they did on VLV
  2. I can't even imagine trying to work with a monster like that night after night lol. I'm good with my dinky pedal board. I have a bunch of old effects but they make me happy. l still rock the old 80s MIJ Boss Sd-1...
  3. Are Jonny or any members of the band influence by Cocteau Twins? I keep hearing traces of their sound in Jonny’s guitar style, especially on songs like Always in my Head, Birds, Fun, Magic, and even the guitar solo for Everglow
  4. I'm still amazed at the quality of their albums after all these years.
  5. I hope to meet the guys someday and that it's a good meeting.
  6. I illegally downloaded "Politik" off of Kazaa or something back then. I didn't have money to buy CDs. That damn song changed my life though. I never heard something as blissful as the second half of that song. I did buy the album like 2 years later though haha. "A Whisper" is one of their most underrated songs imo
  7. I wish I could start my life over again or at least erase the past 12 years or so
  8. Always in my Head and Midnight always remind me of being seriously depressed and suicidal during my last job and after I quit. I didn't realize how miserable I was there. That's in the past now though.
  9. Always in my Head To me it is the sound of depression and reclusiveness
  10. I saw Yellow on MTV2 when I was like 12. Such sweet memories, life was better and a lot less darker than it is now I miss it
  11. I live in Ohio with nothing but either Wal-mart or fields of corn. Let me know if you're still interested LOL
  12. X&Y always makes me think of water and sunset because I bought the album just before a fishing trip with my dad and brothers. Literally heard the album for the first time right by the water while watching the sun go down.
  13. Thank you, I've been handling it fairly well. There are some people who are seriously struggling with his death and can't stop crying. Unfortunately, my best friend killed himself back in March so this is something I've already experienced. The thing was that Chester's death just triggered the emotions of that experience again. I am hoping the people who are still crying and grieving heavily over it get help or talk to people.
  14. I've been so devastated by this. I cared about him and his band since I was a kid. RIP and may God bless his family and friends with healing. I'm so sorry to everyone close to him. My heart aches since the day this happened.
  15. I'm depressed every day. Low energy, tired, don't want to be around people. Scared of the future (don't think I have one anymore), weight loss. Not sure what's going on Been dealing with a lot of disappointments and setbacks in life (dropping out of school, job losses, unfulfilled ambitions). My best friend killed himself last month. Fighting with my family. I think I need to see a professional because I have been getting panic attacks or something. I could be overreacting though or being too dramatic.
  16. Slowdive - Don't Know Why Slowdive - Go Get It
  17. Got a Turbo Rat pedal and it gets close to the tone he gets in Square One and the X&Y era Also, am certain that Fun uses the "Cloud" mode on the Strymon Big Sky
  18. You were really afraid of black people? That's interesting and kind of surreal to hear. I'm glad you were able to experience and become a changed person though. Some people don't want to change in spite of experience. I do know that a lot of those friends I talked about before have very little experience of the world outside their communities. I also think it's an echo chamber effect, where everyone kind of bounces back on whatever info is in their circle. My uncle had an international food store and as a kid I had to hang out there a lot. It exposed me to a lot of different cultures growing up, so I never gave it a thought about others being different or weird. But I understand that a lot of people don't get to grow up the way I did.
  19. Read that he took piano lessons for a couple years as a kid. They require you to read music but some people stop reading after they finish lessons. It's easy to forget how to read sheet music if you never feel the need to do so. You won't forgot completely but will have a lot of remembering to do lol.
  20. I got a Micro Pog recently and it nailed the higher-octave, bell-like sounds. Don't know how he does the weird swelling sound though. Seems like a volume pedal.
  21. I know he likes to use harmonizers like the Micro Pog and Digitech Whammy. I think he has a BigSky reverb, which I know has a Swell "engine" or preset - creates that really looming, blossoming pad sound. Mostly, I just see him looking down and stepping on his volume pedals. Seems like he has an effect or two on a really extreme setting (like the Mix cranked all the way on a reverb) and then controls it with volume pedals.
