So I recently watched a video of Chris Martin performing the song "Suzanne" by Leonard Cohen and couldn't help but notice the similarities between that song and the unreleased "Goodbye and Goodnight"! The lyrics even have some similar elements, with very similar song progression too!

 

What do you guys think?!

i can see what you mean with the similarities between the two songs

Chris has definitely listed him as inspiration many times, such as this video where he says Sparks is "trying to rip off Leonard Cohen" :P

 

 

 

even the opening lyrics to Up With The Birds (the birds they sang // at break of day // start again, i hear them say) were borrowed from a Leonard Cohen song called Anthem
