Josh, that's true, suave also means smooth. Anyway, suave in spanish has more meanings than in English has. It's a more general word. For example:

something which is soft/smooth to the touch

a mellow (suave) song

a gentle breeze

 

or even a film called : suavemente me mata - killing me softly.

but in this context i think that suavemente means lentamente; slowly.
